I have the groin pain sometimes, front top of

leg pain and ache, pain when I stand up and hope

my leg will not collapse, pain when bending down, even

using golfer's method, clicking of my hip, aching of my back,

plus a few more I won't bother you with. Has anyone any

tips to help me through the next 10days.

    Hi Cathie

I have my left hip operated on and my right hip collapsed shortly after. Waiting to go in for that one to be done.. I have found heat keeps the pain down a lor. I have thremal blankets. I have a cushon that is like an electric blanket but thicker and I use it on my bad hip. I also have the heating turned up if I feel cold. It all helps. I have found heat helps more than ice packs. Icepacks are more useful after the op. Try wearing trousers more than skirts / dresses to keep warm too. I hope you won't have to wait too long.

when I'm out now I look at the way people walk, It is amazing

how many lopsided and wobbly walkers there are around,

they all have my sympathy, but they don't seem to be in pain.

My walk was normal after my first op, but the protective limp

we develop came about 10 months later along with the pain.

    dear cathie -

I am so sorry that you are in so much pain right now ---- I just went through it myself and honestly, there is not much I could do about it - I forced myself to get out and go groceries shopping - pain was getting bad that even the pain medication barely helped ... but heat helped to soothe it a bit -

hang in there. darling - do what you can - like others said here, at least you have a date with the surgeon, spo help is on the way ...

and yes, to share here really helps - nobody else understands it -

so come back and just moan okay?

    warm hug

Thank you for this Renee, because I have just come back from shopping with my husband and it was an agonising process even after painkillers. I have a doctors app. On Monday and was even considering asking her to send me privately!!!

It's miserable and I can't do anything other than wait. I have joint school on the 26th October and I have no idea how I am going to make it to the 15th.

I find that my pain fluctuates, like you I thought I'd

not manage to last till my op if the increase continued

at the same rate. Over the last couple of days it has

levelled off, and I don't know whether it's because I

wrote about it, or  because I am being more careful,

or maybe it's because I've only got 9 days to go!

I know. It could be either or both. Be sure to get in touch afterwards.
