Prednisolone & Malaria Tablets

Posted , 2 users are following.

Having cancelled a much longed for trip to South Africa earlier in the year (to celebrate my 65th birthday) because I felt so poorly, its now on again because I feel so well! The test for me was driving to Spain and back, I thought if I can do that, I can do South Africa. So, has anyone taken malaria tablets (most likely Malarone) whilst on Prednisolone and were there any adverse effects? I know I can ask the Doctor when I go for the prescription but I'd much rather have personal experiences if possible and where better to come to than my PMR friends!!! I took Malarone when I went to China three years ago with no ill effects, so I know I'm OK with it. What a beautiful day 8) (I can't find a sunshine emoticon!) - at least it is here in balmy Basingstoke!

    Hi Lizzie Ellen!

You obviously have far too much time and money for your own good!!!! Do you need a \"companion\" for the SA trip - I'd so love to go but the old man exhibits a distinct lack of interest. I suppose he's not really an animal man sad Does wine though...

Now here's an interesting fact - certain antimalarials are used as a means of sparing steroids in some diseases!! So as long as it's the right one you shouldn't have a problem and keep detailed notes please - do they have an effect in PMR????? If your GP looks flummoxed as for a query to be sent to the Tropical Diseases Institute who MUST know.

When are you hoping to go - I'm so jealous!

Your local pharmacist will also know - have a word with him before you go to the GP. Remember to tell him all the medication both prescribed and perhaps homoepathic as well.

Looking forward to hearing where you are going to and when you get back.

Go for it girl, you only get one shot at this life. Well nobody has come back and told me different!!!!!!!!!!!1

As my Mum would have said Eileen 'more money than sense' but in this case its a SKI holiday (Spending the Kids Inheritence  ). Would love to take you along but it seems my dearest is keen to accompany me! Hope to go in November if its not too late to book. And Mrs. K, why do I always forget about the pharmacist :? . Ours is great and I will have a chat with her. I love your last sentence by the way, a great philosophy to live by. I've got bloods on Monday and Consultant (first time for 6 months) on Wednesday, I think she's going to be pleased with me. Wondering if she'll change the reduction pace (snail walking backwards, blindfolded pace!!) but I'm hoping she'll leave well enough alone, seems to be working for me. Have a good weekend everyone - trust it'll be BBQ weather :burger: (hate burgers but there's nothing more suitable in emoticons).

Men can be just SOOOO inconsiderate!!!! My option for Novemeber looks like GB to get the MOT done!

However - you have to admit we took our SKI holiday to the ultimate! Both the kids and grandkids ski - under Italian law all the inheritors share something and all must agree that a house is to be sold (for example) so daughter no 2 has said it will be sold over her dead body! As they get older they may have a bit more time to enjoy it with us - they all work in the NHS as nurses and ambulance service so no bank holidays - what's Christmas??????

    xx Eileen
