I agree with jkprednisolone.  You can always go up...it's the coming down you have to be careful about.  I have upped mine by 1 on my own from time to time, and immediately went back to the dose I was currently on with no problem.  2mg. might not be a problem either, but I wouldn't make that call.  If you are in that much pain, do you not want to ask your Dr.?  I have had to make jumps back up in the past and start the weaning from that dose all over again, depending on the severity of my symptoms.  Sorry you are having such a difficult time, but you're not alone.  Most of us go through it or have been through it.

I'm on other meds but not for PMR or GCA.  I have taken Naproxen in the past for another issue, but can no longer take it as I have severe acid reflux so can't take anyanti- inflammatories.  It did help for that particular issue though.  Wish I could offer more info but am not really familiar with the other drugs you mentioned.  If you are in severe pain, you might consider asking your doctor about going up to last dose you felt good on and slowly reducing again.  I have found when I had to go back up, that the next time I got down to the lower number again, it was easier.  I agree it is very helpful to hear other people's experiences and suggestions.  We all need some moral support.  Just hang in there.
