Prednisone and coloring hair?

Posted , 11 users are following.

Curious.... Is it ok to dye your hair while on prednisone.  Am taking 18 mg at this time.  Have been diagnosed with PMR for 10 months.  My scalp seems to have some keratoses? (little growths) on it.  Thanks....Linda

Thanks to all who replied to me regarding coloring my hair. I currently have gray/white hair. Am turning 70 on in a week. Felt I neede some sprucing up so my full moon face from press would glow! Lol... Linda

Oops... Should say preds instead of press and needed instead of neede.

The day before I was 30 I decided my grey didn't look like superior silver streaks any more and I coloured my hair for the next 10 years, I was dark auburn and the roots showed after a week. I tried other colours but they didn't look right so I left it natural.

I am now 63 and totally white - and I get many compliments and often see young men eyeing up this blond female as they walk towards my car. Changes when they are close enough to see I'm over 40 ;-)

It is well cut - that has far more to do with white hair looking good than trying to cover it up. Our skin changes too and often coloured hair doesn't fit with out different skin tone. Saves me a fortune in hairdresser's bills too!

Love it!! I actually like my natural hair color... My husband has been encouraging me to color it. Don't know if I would like the upkeep though! 😜

Hello linda & Eileen, I have always had very fine thin hair so have nearly always had it short, a boys short cut and sides so for me to also have it coloured at the same time was ok. Of course having it so short has always been a bonus in relation to upkeep. I simply wash, condition and when dry, that takes about 5 minutes I rubbish a gel or lotion just so it's not so fly away.

I am, or might now not be, an ash blonde. The worse colour ever to be. It's a dull draining colour, so I was always happy to colour it.

Eileen, I've also been an a dark and light auburn, loved the colour, but as you say within a week and the light roots were coming through, plus there was the added upkeep of dying my eye brows and lashes, heavens I looked like an alien with blond eye lashes and brows with dark hair. But I digress. I no longer bleach my hair blonde. As you say there comes a time when your complexion doesn't fit in with the brassy hair tones, so I have now plumped for the lightest blond that's peroxide free and both me and Bob love it.

finally, my mother had a beautiful whitish blond colour and if my hair was like that I also wouldn't bother still colouring it either. Regards, tina

I think I need to start on my eyebrows! Eyelashes are great now they have reappeared (not sure if it was PMR or pred that messed them up) but the brows are getting lighter. Not amused since I'm really not good at girly things!
