Prednisone and headaches

I recently underwent septoplasty, all four sinuses ballooned and turbinates reduction. I was prescribed one Prednisone 20 mg a day for 7 days. On day three severe headaches began. Thinking it was due to the surgery I just had, I put up with it. On day five they began to ease but it is now more than a week later and I still have them. My surgeon said he believes the pain was due to the steroid. Your thoughts?

Prednisone has so many  dreadful side effects most of which the average physician either is ignorant of or chooses not to disclose.  The drug may well be the contributing factor, but I think I’d seek a second opinion before I went with it.

    Good luck.

People on this forum mostly use low dose pred over many years so I doubt we can really say much from personal experience. However, one of the listed side effect of higher dose corticosteroids is headache. I'd have thought that the procedure itself can cause pain for some people although most surgeons aren't going to admit that - it reflects on their abilities too!
