Prednisone and Surgery

Posted , 10 users are following.

Having surgery in two weeks.  Very concerned about healing because of prednisone. Surgeon would like me off it a week b4 but Rhemy wants me to take the level I am at which is 6 1/2 mg then next week go to 6 mg then the following week of surgery 5 mg.   I am sure I will have pain given the quick drop.  Anyone else faced surgery and your outcome?

I had to have surgery on my knee for a very rare and aggressive disease that is eating my femur in 3 places in my knee and eating the cartilage. I had surgery 4 months prior to this but the disease came back worse than ever. It is called Diffuse PVNS and if you get it any where else in the body you are fine and surgery is a 100% cure but down the road ,after many surgeries I will probably loose my leg above the knee. My surgeon hated that I was on 7.5 mg. of prednisone but knew I couldn't go off it. Now I worry that my disease will spread even faster since I am immuno compromised .All I can hope for is that it doesn't go to my lungs since my doctor has lost patients any there is no treatment or cure. I didn't get any infection after surgery . Good luck !
