prednisone and weight gain

Hi i was prescribed prednisone yesterday 5mg for 5 days i have to take 6together daily wilth food. It is for my chest/asthma.​Im alittle worried as the side effects look very bad and now i hear you can gain weight with taking them. I recently lost all my baby weight so im worried about putting it on back again.any one have similar experiences? x

    Do you mean prednisolone? It is often prescribed at that dosage as a short term course of a few days to boost your through problems with asthma. I myself had a seven day course prescribed a couple of weeks ago after getting a chest infection. Although it is a steroid it should not cause weight gain over the course of a few days.

      Hi yes thats the one.Thanks. oh i see well hopefully i wont put on my weight asit is just 5 days.I had recently lost all my baby weight after trying for 2 years! now everyone says to me wow you lost so much weight you look great etc lol so i have had all my confidence back so was getting really paranoid about these pills! im on day 2 but havent seen a big differnece just small amounts here and there im also on a antibiotic aswell! the prednisolone is quite bitter aswell i find in tatse! sad

    The very first time I had the steroid pills ,,,I put on weight ,,,,as this is a short course you should be ok ,,,,good luck

      oh no sad yes i hope so too.just hope it also works im so fed up of this cough and wheezing everywhere! Thanks x
