Prednisone bruising

I’m interested in getting a laser treatment but worried about excessive bruising.  I’ve been on prednisone for 6 months and see my skin is thinner now.   Has anyone had elective laser to face while on long term prednisone thx

I was referring to cold laser, which doesn’t bruise but reduces inflammation. It is used extensively in the veterinary world for pain and inflammation and starting to be seen more in human health. Unfortunately there are a large number of bogus, useless products that have affected credibility. It is my understanding that cold laser is used more commonly outside of the US. I happen to rep for a company that markets cold laser and PEMF to veterinarians so I have a unit. Seems to be helping a fair amount now. The elective laser that you refer to is a different thing and not really a medical devise so I wouldn’t want to comment.

Wait, I’m sorry and I apologize. I thought this was a response to my post asking if anyone was using alternative therapies like cold laser, PEMF, TENS, etc.  Really sorry about the strange response. Please forgive me.

    Nancy,

Yes,  not exactly Laser, but I had infini done on my face to “rebuild collagen” .  It is similar in that it disrupts the skin and under layers to cause “damage/rebuilding”.   I told the doc. I’d been on prednisone  so that my skin was thinner.  The first few days I looked quite bad, but it subsided quickly and I looked fine.  Personally, if you get Infini I’d allow 4 full days before public appearances, but I’m quite self-conscious about these things.    I’d required that with the earlier (pre-prednisone) laser treatment I tried about 20 years ago. Good Luck!

      Hi thanks!

this laser is called Profound and yes it is a collegian stimulator.  Deep needles with heat.    I am expecting some bruising and have given myself some downtime...I’ve noticed that bruises take longer to resolve now but I haven’t had excess bruising so I think I will proceed...thank for the info!

I had several IPL treatments while on Prednisone and had no bruising whatsoever. I did tell the doctor who was in charge that I was on Prednisone. Perhaps she took that into account when deciding on the strength of the treatment.

They have new Arnica patches that look like cellophane that are really effective. I think only plastic surgeon type docs can get them.  See if your doc can give/ sell you some for recovery.

I am afraid Nancy, that the devil's tic tacs do a number on all of us. But now back down in 7 mg range I am starting to feel good again. Starting to get my blood sugar under control again, lost the weight I gained, hoping my diabetic neuropathy starts to calm down. Mouth feels good, balance is much better, rode my bicycle little over 22 miles today, so I working myself back into shape. Things will get better, stay active, think positive and smile. ??

Thanks Bethune, just staying active, positive and keeping that smile on my face. Anti inflammatory diet helps I am sure. Each time I ride I try to increase mile, time or level of difficulty; it all started about a year ago when I walked two 1/6 of a mile treks around the pond in town.

      ☺️
