Pregabalin or Gabapentin

Which is best for trapped nerve pain in the lower back which causes leg pain, numb/pins & needles in feet.
I have been told by specialist that there is nothing that can be done and that I will have to live with the problem.
Perhaps there are other suggestions for this type of pain.
I would be glad of any help.
Thanks.

I meant that you need to deal with a scoliosis specialist, not just any old orthopedic surgeon. Sometimes a rehabilitative specialist will have a speicialization in scoliosis. A lot of what is said in your radiology results is that the scoliosis has causes so much compression on nerves as they are trying to exit the spinal cord. That's why I asked if anyone had tried physical therapy on you when you were younger, that's when they can try to undo the twisting. At this point, to really go in and straighten it all out would be an enormous surgery with rods and screw, very painful and not necessarily leading to a good outcome in your leading a tpainfree life. Trying to treat scoliosis with anti-depressants like Lyrica just doesn't seem like the right thing to me. You have a mechanical problem, it just really seems to me that you need someone helping you relieve the mechanical problem as best you can, without surgery. There is an entire specialty called rehabilitative medicine, these doctors helped folks like you and others after strokes, anyone with body function issues. You basically need to get a referral to someone who treats scoliosis patients, that is now your primary diagnosis, it is the reason for your pain, your entire problem. I think if you see a whole new set of doctors as what you really are- a late diagnosed scoliosis patient who now has pain because of the curvature of the spine. I really believe that will set you on a different course of treatment than the one you are currently on with doctors telling you they have run out of options, live with it and here is an anti-depressant.

Thanks again Lynn for you detailed and understandable post, I have manage to track down The Scoliosis Association (UK) https://www.sauk.org.uk/about-us/contact-us who are going to let me know the nearest NHS specialist to my home and I will get my GP to make a referral.
Thanks again for the time you have spent on this, much appreciated.
