Pregabalin/painkiller advice

Hello,

I have recently been diagnosed with chronic fatigue and have been prescribed pregabalin by my Dr. I was wondering if anyone had taken this before or is currently taking it and could offer me some advice on side effects and how succesful it is for you? I've previously taken strong tablets for headaches and it made me not with it, i had slight memory issues, didnt want food etc and just don't want the same to happen again.

Any advice you have, feel free to let me know!!

thanks smile

personally Emily I would say, stay well clear of pregabalin.  I was made so so very ill with it and the GP would not listen to me so I had to come off them myself.  One of the worst experiences of my life.

Amitriptyline helps me with pain but mainly stabilises my sleep with the help of melatonin as well.

You may be fortunate and not be affected like me.  Therefore take it with great caution and keep a very close eye on your symptoms.

Hope this is of some help!

    be kind to yourself x

Hi, Emily. I haven't had experience with this drug. Everyone has different reactions to drugs; what helps one person may have terrible results for another person. Because of this, whenever I take a new med, I start with a very low dosage and ramp up very gradually. (You can't do this with time-released meds, though.). If it comes in capsule form, I break open the capsule and leave only a tiny amount inside. If it's a tablet, I break it in fourths, or sometimes even in eighths.

Hi Emily I was diagnosed with M.E/ CFS about 4 months ago and have also been prescribed pregabalin been taking this now for 3 months also amitripilne , Co codamol, fluoxitine and naproxen, I haven't had any side effects from any of these yet, not sure if that's due to me having worse effects if I don't take any pain meds? I was very reluctant to take these and refused when my doctor first tried to prescribe these....but after suffering now with this and the pain from my lymphnodes I finally caved and decided to give it a try. I am not cured but can function some days where as I couldn't be for due to the pain. Discuss it with your family and then decide hope you feel better soon 😊
