    Hi Claire,

I started it on Tuesday and I begged my psych for it after reading glowing reviews online. I was prescribed 75mg twice a day.   Unfortunately it has made me feel worse.  I was as dizzy as hell after the first few doses.  The room was spinning as if I was drunk too.  Had to sleep with a bucket beside my bed in case I was sick.  Felt terribly depressed too.  I think everyone is different but I am starting to doubt the glowing reviews of this drug and also I don't think I will take it again.  I would rather feel anxious but feel like myself than how I felt after only 2 days on this drug.  Not sure if this helps?

    Best wishes

Hi Mark may be the dose it a little high for you at the moment, I did feel dizzy and drowsy for the first two weeks and I started on 25mg, it is recommended that you start at a lower dose so your body gets used to it and then increase slowly, may be it is worth speaking to you doc again. Even though I wasnt prescribed this drug for depression I do on occassions have anxiety and this has helped with that. I would be happy to stay on this drug if it wasnt for the upset stomach I get at the higher dose. My bladder pain as gone now anyway (thats what I was on them for) so I am now weening off them slowly. (if you have read my previous thread I was told to come off straight away which was the wrong advise and I have servere withdrawal so back on them now and weening off correctly.

    Hi Claire,

I've been prescribed this too. Only found out about it after coming on this forum. I asked my GP about it as I had an allergic reaction to mirtazipine..he just prescribed it straight away. Spoke to my pharmasist yesterday to ask his advise & he'd never heard of it being used for GAD until he read the leaflet!! That was a bit worrying but they have so many drugs to know about don't they so they can't know everything. The list of side effects scare me but I took my first pill tonight. Ive got a trapped nerve in my neck, been causing ailments for a few months so i'm hoping it will help with that too. I've been seeing an Ostiopath for that.

Have been on several SSRI in the past & they only worked for a short while. They made my IBS much worse & I came off my last meds & felt loads better, was thinking straight, sleeping better etc. but because of prolongued stress last year & SAD my anxiety coupled with moderate depression has come back with a vengence so now trying this.

It's annoying having to try new drugs, I feel like a guinea pig so hit & miss, wish I could just get better without all this hassle. How long have you been on it?

Wow that's a lot to take. I'm only taking this drug now at 25mg & it is helping so far. On day 7 don't seem to be having many side effects. Got a bit of indegestion. Reading a really good book by Dr Claire Weekes - essential help for your nerves only a few chapters in but it's all making sense to help with anxiety.
