Pregablin for Peripheral neuropathy

Posted , 4 users are following.

I've been taking it for about 2mths now. 150mg in the morning and 225 before bed. I'm sleeping so much better and usually get a good 8hrs sleep without waking up in pain but during the day the side effects aren't great. I have a constant headache and aching joints and it feels like I am dragging extra weight in my arms and legs. Most of the symptoms of the periperal neuropathy has gone apart from in my hands and feet. I just don't know which is better, the symptoms of the neuropathy or the side effects. I'd love advice from anyone in the same position

I, like you, am sleeping and actually getting some much needed rest. But I feel so energized in the daytime, sometimes too much so, as if I'm stumbling over myself. My dosage has been cut a bit, and 3x a day instead of 2....hope this helps with the jitters. I'm starting to understand that this medication has such a wide range of effect on different people. It's amazing...surely there's a standard...My best to you. I understand the consideration of which is better....I don't know, I'm weighing things myself.

First thing in the morning I feel terrible, the pain is back and I ve an awful headache for a couple of hours. I'm trying to stay active and get things done but when it comes to walking I'm having huge problems, after 100yards my legs start to feel like dead weight and joint pain. I do hink this pain is better then the pain without the pills so I'm going to keep taking them until I see the neurologist gain at the start of June. I'm amazed at the amount of different things this is prescribed for and we all seem to have different side effects. It is helping me sleep so it's the best I've tried so far and hopefully the side effects will go when I settle into it and find the right dose

i agree about sleeping better...I can relate to your comment about the pain while on Lyrica is better than without it...there's something disturbing about the side effects. I'm starting to get used to being a bit "lopsided" and spacey....

I'm not, I do feel rough during the day but being able to sleep makes it all worthwhile

Yes, it does...are you taking enough? Hope your doctor can help with the "other" pain.

I'm taking 3x75mg a day at the moment but the dr has said I can take 4, so going to try that. I still have the original pain (burning, tingling - sounds pretty pathetic when I type it on here) in my hands and feet but it was up my arms and legs originally and was constant and really unbearable. Are you still feeling ok on your dose?

It only sounds pathetic to someone who hasn't been thru this type of pain themselves.  Thank you for asking, I'm doing well on 3X75 but on certain days (high barometric pressure) I take it upon myself to add a 75. Maybe if you up your dosage, it will help the pain so you can deal with the side effects? Just a thought....

I didn't even think about weather affecting your pain, I'll have to keep an eye on that but sure that wouldn't be a factor with mine. I'm going to up my morning dose to see how that works

I use Gabapentin. Generic for neurontin. Very good for me. Be aware you will feel a bit like your drunk first 3 days then no side effects for me. I have been on it awhile and take 800 mg in morning. I can take another up to 4. Usually 1 does it. Also l was put on cymbalta which is known to help the pain and depression. It's great!
