Pregnant with Bells Palsy, Anyone?

I am now 34 weeks pregnant with my first child, and was diagnosed with BP on my 30th week. I have been to ER on the onset of the symptoms, and the doctors did not prescribe anything to me and said to wait and see after I give birth. On my 2nd week with BP I had a sever earache, headache and jawpain. It lasted for about 5 days, i cant sleep at night as the pain strangely strike me at night. And in the morning, My face feels like I was punched and bruised. Its so painfull. Its pretty frustrating for these past 4 weeks with BP. Though i am able to eat, drink and talk fine.

Yesterday, i had my appointment with my OB for my pregnancy, she asked me how was my BP going , and what am I taking , she is surprised that the neirologist didnt gave me anything . So she made a call to a different hospital and talk to thier neurologist. And after the the call, she prescribed me something to take.. its a 30 day course. Im not sure what med is that , coz i havnt bought them yet.. and i cant even read the prescription( handwritting sucks)??. And made sure to me that its safe, making some akward moment to me as she said that I heard her consult the specialist first.

I am now having thoughts whether to take the prescription or not? Could anyone suggest anything ?? I am really overthinking about this.

Thanks in advance.

    Hi Kim

BP is indeed very painful, I can imagine also how hard it is not to b able to do take meds to help with the recovery. However, since of BP patients can recover with or without meds, and giving that u are pregnant I would refrain from taking any Med until giving birth. Remember that any damage caused to your unborn baby due to meds might cause a greater lifelong damage to her/ him. I would say be patient and ask your doctor about some low dose safe acetaminophen to ease the pain, and if u can tolerate the pain skip the Med. On the other hand, I say keep taking your prenatal vitamins as they contain B12 and Omega 3 which are good for you, and your baby, make sure u relaxe a lot, meditate, stay around people who bring positive vibe to u and love u, and keep the good thoughts coming.

Hope your pain dissipates quickly, take good care of yourself and your baby💕

I forgot to mention that I was diagnosed with BP seven weeks ago; my case was a severe case of BP and my improvement has been very very shy. This is the 4th time my neurologist prescribed me prednisone but I am not sure they are helping me giving that I am still most of the time in pain. I think it is just a matter of time that we ought to give our cranial nerve to rid itself from inflammation...

      Hi Kim

I haven't heard of Benadon, but if you still feel uncomfortable taking any prescription drug during pregnancy simply don't and ask your doctor about prenatal vitamins.

Stay strong and have faith, you are almost there, do what your best judgement tells u is good for you and your baby. 💕

Hi kim58045, first of all, congratulations on your pregnancy. I know it sucks to be sick during pregnancy because you are very limited to any medications you can take. I strongly suggest that you go for facial therapy where they will massage your affected nerves on your face. Also, for pain reliever, you can do some breathing excercises. When you find yourself overthinking too much, empty your thoughts and just relax. I find good sleep and good rest helps a lot too. Hope these helps and I will be praying for you and your baby. God bless!

I would feel very comfortable that she consulted a specialist.  She is looking out for your best interest.
