Premarin cream

I’d loose my appetite, in fact I’d feel quite sick, knowing what they do to the horses to get it. The clue is in the name. It is extracted from pregnant mares urine. The mares are chained up in tiny stalks with a plastic funnel strapped to their behinds which collected the highly concentrated urine (they are given the minimum of water to ensure the urine is concentrated). These poor horses spend their lives like this. Oh, yes, and they have to be constantly pregnant - guess what happens to the fowls - yes, they are slaughtered as soon as they are born. Once the mares are past breeding age they too are slaughtered.

Not only does Premarin involve this disgusting treatment of horses but the human clinical trials were stopped halfway through due to the danger to the women participating in the trial of stroke, heart problems and cancer. I cannot believe that Premarin is still being prescribed when there are less cruel and less dangerous alternatives.

I have never used premarin but have looked at the side effects, their not pretty, one being change of appetite. Have you ever thought of using bio identical hormones to treat your vaginal atrophy? Bio identical hormones are recognized by our body unlike synthetic types that seem to have many side effects and cause women problems. Atrophy is caused by lack of estrogen, progesterone and testosterone, the hormones that have kept that area healthy our whole life. After menopause we are just not producing enough of these hormones if any to keep things healthy. The safest estrogen is estriol and vaginal creams can be made at a compounding pharmacy. Many women overlook the benefits from testosterone too. Compounded testosterone transvaginal  cream might be beneficial for you too. A good doctor that understands hormone usage can't be stressed enough. One that runs lab numbers and only gives what your body needs to make things right. I have been using bio identical hormone replacement for two and half years consisting of estrodial, estriol, testosterone and progesterone. Almost three years post menopausal with no problems. I only experienced vaginal dryness, lack of lubrication and soreness during intimacy for a short period of time. I got on treatment right away. I'm with a holistic doctor, not covered by insurance but my health and quality of life at this point is very much worth it. Good luck!

And put your life at risk? If it is only vaginal discomfort you are suffering from then you do not need to put the incompatible harmful hormones of another species in your body. I have been using estrogen cream (estriol) for almost a year now and it has worked wonders. Within a couple of weeks it returned my vagina to its normal wetness, condition and elasticity. Sex is wonderful (in fact I’d say it is better - myself and other women have found that the cream seems to increase sensitivity down there). Local application of estrogen is far safer than systemic use. If you have other symptoms then patched are safer than tablets. There are plenty of other safer alternatives. So, you don’t care about the lives of other beings, but what about your life? They stopped the clinical trials of Premarin because of the risk of death to the participants. But the drugs company is wealthy... Premarin was produced before all the other HRT that is now available. It is unnecessary now that there are safer alternatives.

There are other safer synthetic products you could use instead of Premarin.  Like was mentioned, the horses are put through hell and have a horrible life to produce something that only gives temporary relief to a temporary problem.  Please have some compassion and try a synthetic product.  I really didn't know anyone still took this stuff who had a conscience.
