Premarin cream and gall bladder problems

Posted , 3 users are following.

I just received a prescription for Premarin cream and she wants me to use 0.5 grams twice weekly vaginally.  I was reading the insert and it said It could cause you to have to have your gall bladder removed.  I have a gall bladder completely full of stones but no attacks with it.  Has anyone had problems with premarin cream and gall bladder attacks or having to have it removed?  I am a little leery about doing this.  My doctor didn't seem concerned.

Hadn't heard of that side effect, but I never filled my prescription for Premarin. My sister has stage 4 breast cancer and though the doctor told me it was safe for me to use my sister was told HRT was safe as well and I'm sure it caused her cancer. I would research HOW Premarin can cause problems with the gallbladder. Doctors can be very cavalier about drugs.

Are you being prescribed the Premarin for vaginal atrophy? If so, have you tried any natural remedies like coconut oil or vit E?

      hi Beverly

yes I have tried natural remedies for vaginal atrophy.  i have used vitamin E suppository, estriol cream on the skin and a natural progesterone cream.  These worked fine when i had a partner.  now a year without a partner and burning has started.

Are you saying you continued to use all the remedies you mentioned during your last year without having a partner as well?

As I said I am paranoid about using the Premarin because of cancer in my immediate family. Also, when I read about the side effects it sounded like having mentrual symptoms all over again and I am well rid of those. I was toying with the idea of trying it after reading about how seriously affected other women were by the atrophy. However , since then information was shared about the Mona Lisa lazer treatment and I'm pretty sure I will go that route if my symptoms get worse...or if earth is hit by an asteroid causing me to meet a man I would want to sleep with. ;-)

Yes i was using the other remedies but they don't seem to be working without a partner.  So i think i will use the premarin only until the burning is gone and then start with my regular remedies.  Balancing what is best for us is very difficult i agree.  i am concerned too about this gallbladder warning on the insert with premarin.  Maybe this is where i got all the stones to start with because i used birth control pills in my 20s and 30s.  i sure don't need anymore stones.  maybe someone will have tried the premarin who has gallstones and will be able to tell me if they got more or had problems.

Susan, I see you have been trying to send me messages. I can't "reply" to you because the box with your removed message doesn't include "reply". They have some rather silly rules here about what you can post. You CAN post whatever you want in a "private message", though I'm afraid it's been a while since I did it and I can't remember how! It should be more obvious. A lot of people get very annoyed with these restrictions. Some have left.

Susan, it;s ma again. There is supposed to be an envelope icon under our names to click on to send a private message, but as you can see there are NONE appearing under my name. For some reason Sweeney has one. I have no idea why this is. I hate technology sad
