Prescribed citalopram and amitriptyline do drugs work

Hi,

 ive been advised by some of you to seek medical advice which i now have smile.

The doctor has prescribed me citalopram and amitrityline anyone ever tried these? Or have had medication that has helped?.

Im not looking for them to work miracles just kic start me in the right direction.

Also im a little scared of taking them due to the warning of making you worse before getting better (bites nails in nerves) 

Would appreaciate peoples experiances and comments and any other reco.mendations to try.

    Thanks for the comments micheal i can understand where you are coming from i really dont wanna take meds as im anti paracetamol never mind these i havnt been taking the citalopram but have been taking the amatrypiline as i am in extreme pain i suffer from chronic pain.

    these seemed to have cheered me up slightly i dont no if is because they can be used as anti depressants or just happier because it has eased my pain either way it has eased my life slightly
