Pressure feeling after surgery?

Hi. I need some advice please. My mum had cataract surgery 5 weeks ago. She was taking eye drops up until more than a week ago. A few days after she stopped she has said that she feels like the eye in which got operated, that it feels like it is pressured feeling? like someone is touching it from the side that kinda pressure? She also said when she wakes up in the morning, her sight is amazing but as the day goes on it isn't the same as first thing in the morning. I said maybe that's cause your brain gets used to looking through both eyes as the day goes on and since her other eye has cataract in it aswell that's probably why? She said she was seeing a shadow on the far corner of her eye that had a bend but after reading this forum I found out that happens to alot pf people.
Anyone able to give advice regarding the pressure issue and also with her eyesight not being the same as first thing when waking up. She wears sunglasses to watch tv half the time and for her phone to, cause she says her eye start to feel weird and get blurry after a while?
She has a post cataract appointment in 3 weeks at the hospital. But I'm unsure if i should take her to the a&e eye clinic before then?
All advice appreciated please.

hello! i had surgery in Feb. my eyesight was also better in the morning and went downhill throughout the day. Doc said it was dry eye plus eye fatigue as the day wore on. your mum could try preservative free eye drops and see if that improves her vision at all.

i'm in U.S. we can buy artificial tears over the counter at the drugstore. examples Refresh Plus and Systane Ultra. i'd give it a try. You can use preservative free drops every hour as needed.

Hi
Non of us in here are experts, and off course I would not like to be the one, who says don´t take her to a clinic if there is something wrong, if you get what I mean.
But it could very well be dry eyes, I had that irritation feeling sometimes as well, just like there was something in the eye that there was no room for, and for me it helped with eye drops. And better view in the morning than in the evening could also very well be dry eyes.
I would try to use some artificial tears of some kind, Systane is very well know, but I guess other similar drops are just as good.
You can´t use too many of these artificial tears, you can use just as much as you like.
Dry eyes is very common after eye surgery, in most cases it gets better after some month. I am 4 month after surgery, I was at checkup one week ago, they told me I still have somewhat dry eyes, although I don´t really notice it any more.

I would have her seen by the surgeon about the pressure. May be a simple explanation like dry eye but maybe the pressure she is feeling isn't normal. How long was she on the steriod drops. I was on those for 4 weeks. If not on them long it could be swelling causing pressure but best have an expert take a look.

Hi thanks for the reply. She was on the drops for 4 weeks. And started having these feelings like a day or two after she stopped. She has a post op check up in 3 weeks. Best to just wait until then? I don't wanna worry her to much if it's unnecessary to go to a&e.

If this pressure feeling started a day or 2 after the drops it could very well be swelling still. 3 weeks is a ling wait. Really think she should see someone - better safe.

Hi. I spoke to her last night about this and she said it's not a pressure feeling. More like a sore feeling. So basically I think it's just feeling swollen which is expected. She said she feels like someone sand in her eyes sometimes but told her that's just grittyness and happens.

Also. Just a general question it anybody knows. Can she actually put water in that eye now or does she have to wait until post eye op appointment? Or can she put warm water on a cloth and rub over her eye lid?

I don't think it is a good idea to rub eye st all for 6 weeks. Gently dab a cloth would be ok but she won't want to risk rubbing it - could dislodge Iol or tilt it. Having a shower or water in the face is fine after a few days

Hi. Was looking at my mums eyes right now. And the eye which was operated in actually looks smaller then her other eye? This possible?

Our eyes are never completely equal, each eye is unique.
My sister said my eyes had slightly different colors in the middle when only one eye was operated, they got similar in color when the second eye was done.
About water, it takes normally 6 weeks for the eye to heal, at this point you can do as you would do with you natural eyes in regard of water.
