Preterm birth with uterine fibroids

Posted , 9 users are following.

I lost my son last Sunday. I was only 22 weeks 5 days along. I have had a massive fibroid measuring 8cm during our first prenatal Dr visit.  At 20wks it measured 15cm along with 2 more 4-5cm each.  I'm devastated. Looking for information about my next steps for a myomectomy and ttc again.

    Hi Angie,

I'm really sorry to hear this, may god give you strength to get through this tough time.  I think for me it had to be open mymectomy ( it's on the 8th Aug) as I also have 10cm fibroid. That was the best and only option, as it was causing me pain and such heavy bleeding. I think if you really wish to try for another baby maybe consider getting the fibroid removed either by keyhole or open. Speak to your consultant and seek advise. Take care and keep in touch

Awww... So so sad Angie. Am sorry. My question is. Is there no way the fibroid could be shrink? My Dr's here said it's common with African women and that no one knows the cause of it. It wish i could just close and open my eyes to see that the issue of fibroids could eradicated or removed or doesn't exist so that we can have our peace of mind.

All hope is not lost. Desire on what next to do with your Dr. And we will stand by you.

    Ciao.

So sorry for your loss Angie. I have a 7cm and three 2cm fibroids all have shrunk ( grew to 9cm from 4 and 3-4cm from teeny- 2cm during my twin pregnancy which I lost in may) all intramual. Surgeons are saying hysterectomy because a myomectomy is so hard on the uterus and mine is big and nearly 18 months recovery, do I want to go through that they say. I'm actually disgusted they keep suggesting hysterectomy but i'm reading thats the norm. I had a myomectomy booked for the 18th of this month but yesterday the surgeon cancelled it(suggested hysterectomy again grrr) but I was also aneamic and put me on esmya for 3 months to stop my period/shrink fibroids and I must go back in three months to see what op I want or if i'll do nothing. Like you I want to ttc but dont have time on my side as i turned 37 last week. I think they will put you on esmya to shrink yours with open rather than laparoscopic myomectomy as your options to preserve your fertility. Good luck

Praying for you Angie. I have fibroids also. I had UFE but I don't think it  is recommended if you want to still have children. I believe there are other ways to remove fibroids. Please don't give up. I'm so sorry this happened to you. Do the research and get yourself well. Then try again. God bless you !

HI Angie i so sorry to hear about your son, but don't lose hope please. I have had an laparoscopic myomectomy but my fibroids were like a 14 weeks pregnancy. In your case they will probably do a open myomectomy as it may be too big for keyhole surgery. Please find me on Facebook or email me and I can tell you more about as I want to have kids and the operation has not affected my fertility.

Like I said don't loose hope as you can still get pregnant but I think is important to have the fibroids removed first. Should you wish I can give you my doctor email and you can have an informal discussion about your problems.
