Previous days before Cataract surgery. What should I do?

Posted , 2 users are following.

Hello, my doctor asked me to wash all my face three times a day with Povidone iodine or Chlorhexidine, starting 3 days before the day of the surgery.

Has anybody been asked the same or something similar ? Although I know it's important to avoid infection as much as possible, I'm a female with sensitive thin face skin and I'm a little bit worried it could caused me an adverse reaction or huge irritation and redness. I can't get in touch with my doctor, so I would like to know what have you done before your cataracts surgery. Please tell me.

Thank you in advance for your reply.

Hi! I have never heard of this as a requirement pre-surgery. I had cataract surgery last year and was told to stop wearing make up at least one week prior and to ensure my eye area was cleaned thoroughly each day so that no traces of makeup were present at time of surgery. I decided to stop wearing makeup two weeks prior as an extra precaution to avoid risk of infection, and of course didn't wear it after surgery for approx 5-6 weeks.
