Prickly feeling with hot flash?
Posted , 9 users are following.
Up to this point in my perimenopause journey, I haven't experienced any hot flashes. And I think what I am beginning to experience is just that. I don't start sweating, my face just feels warm, almost just like a fever, but then my arms and sometimes legs get a tingling and prickly feeling. Does anyone else's hot flashes act like this? Thanks and ((hugs)) to everyone

Yes I do. I never get the night sweats though. It feels like you've got the flu but you don't. Then there's the pressure on your head. I sweat under my armpits. And I get cold flashes too.

Yes it does feel like I have the flu. I have a headache right now too. I wasn't sure if it was bc I didn't have any caffeine today though. Have you found anything that makes you feel better when they happen? Do you just lay down and rest? Mine seem to last longer than what I have read online. Thanks for your reply.

Sometimes mine are all day long. The only time I really notice them is when I'm sitting down. Do you have this gravitational pull sensation. Like gravity is pulling uou toward the hround? Or when you sit down you feel like you're being pulled forward?

Yes, that is what my hot flushes were like (I say 'were' because they seem to to have stopped for the moment. Periods have also restarted.). They were upper body and feel like I am radiating heat like a fever but little sweat. The sweat is saved for the night.
Like wildfire said there seems to be a positional component to the hot flushes trigger. For me it was when I bend down or tilt forwards. As soon as I lay down in bed I got one.

Thank God I have found someone else that finds there is a positional component to them. I mean, how weird is that?

Hi! New symptom for me today - my face feels like I have fallen into a pile of nettles or maybe chillies, and my scalp is feeling tight. It has looked red on and off but no hives or anything. It feels boiling to my but my husband says it feels cool to the touch. Does this sound like what you have?

Also to add been going on all day. Not a "flash" at all!

Hi Curly,
I have this too! My face just feels hot (to me) for hours. Body temp doesn't rise. No rash or flush. Just feels hot.
No idea what that's about.
Hugs to you!

I am sure this is part of my problem... this time of year is bad for me. On hot sunny days the ragweed blooms, and on (hot or cool) humid days the mold in the fields grows like crazy.
Have you ever tried quercetin to help with histamine issues? I just bought some but haven't tried it yet.

I don't feel "prickly" but yes, warm, sometimes uncomfortably so. Sometimes it jolts me awake in the night.
I posted a somewhat related topic some time back; perhaps you might find it helpful: https://patient.info/forums/discuss/what-constitutes-a-hot-flash-does-anyone-just-feel-warm-and-miserable--769773
