Prickly knee!

Posted , 6 users are following.

TKR end of January so just coming up to 8 weeks. Thought I'd turned a corner, can now drive, sleeping better this last week, walking a bit more without stick etc, but last night a new "problem" . .....just to side of incision scar it feels like someone is sticking pins in my knee in one little area. Its just above where I have a numb patch, where the nerves have gone. Its not there all the time but only when the duvet or my clothes are touching it, but very irritating when trying to sleep. Anyone else had this?

Hi Lynn yes I did have this apparently it's the nerves that were cut re joining. Didn't last a long time but completely normal

Hi Lyn, yes I had that aswell, my physiotherapist said it was Sensitivity, and I had to De Sensatise it, by rubbing different textures up and down it, I.e. a rough towel, then soft cotton, silk, and it really did work.

Thanks all, I've done as suggested and massaged the area of prickliness and it's much better - managed to sleep last night! I think it's the not knowing what it could be that makes it worse, but now I know......😁😁👍👍

How are you getting on with this now?

I had a similar experience following TTT and Lateral Release years ago. The hypersensitivity has gone but I do still have areas of numbness.

I do hope you're finding it easier now.

Hi. Its fine now, went away in a week but i kept massaging the area when it came on and that helped. I still have a numb patch next to my knee, about 2in in diameter but was told that this could last years if not permanently. It doesnt bother me, just feels weird! Knee is much better now and im slowly getting back to normal. 😁
