Prilosec (omeprazole) causing anxiety and panic?

Anyone on here who was given prilosec for gastritis, gerd, or an ulcer experience any nasty side effects? I have been suffering from extreme anxiety, panic attacks, insomnia, and adrenaline rushes starting 5 days after I began taking this med. I am an anxious person by nature but this is ridiculous. I walk across the floor and I panic. It's a whole new level of anxiety that I cannot control. Doc gave me one valium pill to try after the trazedone did not help and I had adrenaline rushes on the valium. Something is wrong, could it be the med?

Yes, I had problems after 5 days on zoton, had to stop them..felt dizzy, anxiety in creased, and could hardly breathe , Doctors wont believe they increase anxiety, I also had no appetite, I just take gaviscon now, PPIs are very bad taken long term...

The number of replies makes a statement that no clever explanation of side effects can explain !
I was prescribed this product in a busy teaching hospital and in a hospital environment it was manageable, just about, the only side effect i had, was really unpleasant diarrhea. After I was discharged the Specialist wanted me to continue taking it, advising that it would protect the stomach lining. (Very large doses of steroids were on the menu) It became so bad I had difficulty leaving the bathroom. Just couldn't have a normal life. I was torn between my respect for the Specialist and the effect of the drug, with much fear and trepidation, I stopped taking it. In less than 24, hours my symptoms ended.
My condition was however, life threatening and rare. But I would always advise anyone; never ever to turn aside from the advice of a competent doctor. The skill and understanding of a medical doctor must be very carefully ascertained but once the tests and proof make sense it is the height of arrogance and stupidity to believe we know better.

hi sarah ive i was prescribed omeprazole a month ago and every sense ive been taking the med ive been having really bad anxiety and panic attacks. ive always had anxiety but never panic attacks. i went to the drs a few days ago she told me to stop taking med and she prescribed me some anti depression meds when i need them for my anxiety. i had stop taking omeprazole but still have been having panic attacks its only been 2 days without them. i just want to know how long it took you to not feel the panic attacks anymore.? im so over it and just want to be the happy out going me again.

I recently switched to an H2 blocker instead of a PPI ( was on pantoprazole for 7 months!) because of panic as well as INCREASED stomach pain/cramps! I think they started to make my condition worse!! Doctor wasnt capable of acknowledging any of this so I switched doctors too!
