Prior left knee condition..

Hello, All...thank you for your posts & advice. I have a question that my PT person asked me, do I have a picture or documented condition of my knee before total replacement was done. My answer is no, just xrays. I did walk on it straight legged for about a month or maybe two. I had the Cortsone and gel shots which helped.

I still am early in recovery (I think)...its been 2 months after tkrL. The stretching is fine, the bending is difficult but not impossible...I m on treadmill at home and walking over 2400 steps per day. I cant wait to dance the electric slide and polka someday.

Will this heal ? Should I get an MRI? I have had 9 visits to pt...

Hi Dawn,  I had my right TKR last June I'm going in for my left TKR soon mine were bone on bone the only problem I have now is my knee hurts when I getup in a morning or I have sat for a while but other than that it's great I can't walk far at the moment as I need my other knee doing and it's affecting my back, keep up with what you are doing also use ice packs if it swells I find that a great help I also have a pedle machine I sit in a chair in the kitchen and just sit and pedle like riding a bike but with no bike just peddles hope this helps. You didn't mention where y oh are with being straight. Getting to zero is really more important that bend. The straighter the leg the better the chances of not developing a limp. I think your future as a dancer will be secure. I would stay away from tap dancing as the knee may not be able to handle that type of pounding.

The knee will settle in given time. It is reckoned that it takes about 18 months for the knee to fully heal. I have had both knees replaced in the last two years, both are now fine. Patience is the byword, you'll get there.
