Probiotics?

Hello, I've been suffering with UTI's since July last year but they have recently been recurring every month or so. I've had, maybe about 5 courses of antibiotics this year so far and have been sent for blood tests and an ultra sound (which all came back negative). Doctors are reluctant to give me more antibiotics because of the chance it will make my symptoms worse in the long run, which I agree with. I was just wondering if probiotics will work and if so, what ones should I be looking at? Thank you ??

Lactobacillus reuteri RC-14 and Lactobacillus rhamnosus GR-1 are two recommended probiotics for urinary/vaginal health.  They may help prevent UTI but they are not going to cure it.

Can you expand on how your symptoms will be worse in the long run on antibiotics?  If you get a bad UTI, I don't see that you (or anyone) has a choice but to take an antibiotic.  Let's face it, if all these other natural things worked, nobody would take an antibotic.

She means that the bacteria will become resistant to antibiotics and if I can avoid using them then that would better. I'm looking for ways to prevent them coming on so easily. Thanks for your advice.

What are her suggestions?  After all, she is the doctor.

If I sound p*ssy, it's because I am sick to death with doctors that are doing nothing to help us.  We are left with going to chat boards trying to get help from others in the same boat as are.

That's quite alright ?? Just the usual suggestions such as drinking a lot of water, peeing after sex and said I could try cranberry juice, although it may or may not be beneficial. I'm currently trying all of these, just want to see if anything else will work. What do you do to try and prevent them?

Some people claim to have had success using Methenamine.  It's supposed to acidify the urine and create formaldehyde that kills the bacteria.

I'm on a prophylactic abx which is barely keeping my uti at bay.  You could use an abx after sex as a preventative.  Last resort though.
