Problem with adrenals

Hi Everybody .Update on adrenal problems .Diagnosed late 2014.Using dsns method managed to taper to 3.5 with no flare .Three months ago developed what Eileen calls overwhelming fatigue and armed with all the info from this forum I asked for a synachen test .Got results today and was told my adrenals are stunted (specialists expression). Now I need advice. The spec said that as I was so clued in about the whole thing(thanks to this forum ) she would leave me alone until August and repeat the synachen test .She said I could try reducing dsnp below 3.5..what do ye think .Was this all good advice .She did warn me as Eileen already had about what to do if I started to feel unwell .Thanks for all wonderful advice over the years .The spec was impressed .

I think I would stay at the 3.5mg for at least another couple of months and see if the fatigue improves - the adrenals SHOULD slowly start to function better if they can. If they can't - they won't. This is a low dose, it isn't doing any harm and it is letting you function. On the other hand - you could TRY another slow drop of 0.5mg. If the fatigue gets worse - you can go back. But the question is whether you can function at that dose.

I am also having issues with sluggish adrenals. On waiting list to see specialist for synacthen test.

just wanted to suggest that you could try reducing by 1/4 mg of prednisone. That is what I do.

Hi Mrs c j thank you for your suggestion .That is my plan and hopefully it will work .Will let you know after my next synachten test on Aug 1st .How long are waiting for yours .

I am not sure how long the wait will be. I don’t think my GP realizes that the synacthen test is important for PMR people with a lot of fatigue, so he probably didn’t put my request in as a very high priority.  So I may be waiting months.  It’s been about 5 weeks so far.....but I’m hoping for a phone call soon!
