Hi, had my gallbladder removed in September 2018 and all really good until last couple of weeks. I am experiencing mild pain similar to a gallstone attack in area where gb was! I read on here before about this but cant find post now. Any help and advice would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance

Thank you! What symptoms are you experiencing? Do certain foods make it worse? I'm feeling tired also!!

Hi I get pains and aching through my shoulder area and under my right breast where the Liver and my Gaulbladder was.
Feeling very fatigued aching generally and headaches off my food, getting these symptoms when i eat. struggling to go to the toilet either constipated or loose sorry to be graphic. im also going through a very stressful time at the moment so thats probably not helping. hope this helps in some way, that your not on your own.
It is annoying that we are going through this given the tough time already come through with the whole process and recovery of the operation. Hopefully we will both get this sorted and feel better soon kind regards JO

I got my gallbladder out on 5th March past. I've had problems since that like you Joanne I've had pain where gallbladder was , right shoulder and very swollen tummy and pain beside belly. problems with bowels also. I've had colonoscopy done which was fine, waiting on my post op appointment now to find out if they will see what's wrong. I thought getting it out would be end of my problem but it seems like one step forward and two steps back. it's a complete nightmare not getting better and having all this pain . I also cant eat as everything makes me sick and it makes my tummy swell even more.

Hi so sorry to hear what you have been going through. Really empathize with what your saying. Im having most of the same symptoms as yourself. not been able to work for 18 months now. my life had been put on hold with the gaulstones.
I truly believe that one of the biggest problems is that they tell people its fine eat what you like, when in reality this is not the case the stomach is unable to fully to get all the nutrients we would have had from foods. Doing some research i've realised that we need the aid of digestive enzymes. to aid this process. Milk Thistle, is one of these enzymes to help the Liver.
i need to look at the notes on this, but if you look up digestive enzymes it will tell you youtube lots of different videos on this subject.
keep in touch let me know how your doing. i truly hope we both can be feeling better very soon. there has to a way forward to resolving these problems. kind regards JO

it really is a complete nightmare. I really expected the Operation to be the end of all the problems. I was wondering if you had an itch, I had one before op and it went away for about 2 weeks after surgery and came back with a vengeance. I've associated this with my liver. When the pain is extreme the itch is really bad. I genuinely hope you get sorted out , I'll be interested to see what your scan shows up. I'm at a loss as to what the problem is as I cant see my consultant until June time.

Joanne I'll definitely be trying the milk thistle, thank you for suggesting that. It's frustrating not being able to eat , I really miss my fruit and veg and worry about this. I hope we can keep in touch. 😊

Hi we can by all means stay in touch, i wish the medical field give out more information to patients to help them with the obvious dietary needs that should be addressed by the dietician. I remember asking about what i could eat after the operation i was told anything i wanted.
apparently there was no special diet or supplements needed but this is not the case.
i will have a look at the other supplements and message you with the details, have a look on the youtube channels about diets and digestive enzymes. there is a lot of information out there. worth having a look. try not to worry about the fruit and veg i understand your frustrations i'm eating a vegan diet mainly making sure i avoid cheese and healthy stuffs to eat. my diet has not been great of late with moving. keep a diary of what you can eat and foods that are ok. message me anytime take care JO

HI i really empathize with you, that sounds so uncomfortable when this itch is bothering you do any rashes occur, do you mean in the area of the area where the liver sits just under the right breast. ive encountered some itching but not for long more aching and tenderness in that area and stomach very tender and ribs i was given antibiotics and a chest x ray as ribs sore and ultrasound just waiting to speak with the doctor.
I t is really frustrating to continue with problems after the operation and like you stated thought that was the end of it to some degree. i knew i would have to be careful what i eat and eating large meals i cannot do.
hope things start to get better for you.
kind regards JO

Hi ... I had my gb removed in 2015 and suffered the same kind of pains. in the end I was sent for another scan which showed nothing at all. The lady who performed the scan said that so many people with post op pain similar to a gallstone attack show up for scans. It does make me wonder why no one in the medical world has an adequate opinion or diagnosis regarding this. Mostly I'm fine now, though I still get the odd pains now and then.

Oh no, you have my complete sympathy. I wish you well. I'm surprised nothing showed up and gutted for you. It would be nice to find out why this is occurring in a lot of people. It's so unfair.

hi JO, thank you for your kind message, people don' t realize how difficult life can be from Galbladder problems and the effects of the operation is life changing. ive lost nearly over four stones in weight since 2018. i hope you are feeling better and understand just how difficult this can be.
Apparently something has shown up that the doctor wants to discuss with me. sorry if i was vague. The Radiologist gave me know information which did not help.
The doctor gave me a course of anti biotic which made a difference. stopped the tenderness on my stomach and soreness on my ribs and the pain reduced thankfully.
The doctor is ringing me on the 9 th of May to have a chat, only other thing that was mentioned was my Liver seemed a bit distressed. Also I am in the process of moving which has caused me more stress and living in temporary accomodation waiting for our new home to be ready im convinced that this has played a part in the health issues a d missing my cats who are in a cattery. I love them dearly and just want to be settled again with my partner in our own home.
Thank you for your message jo

Hi Joanne. I've also been vague, when I had my OP on 5th I took an infection and was back in hospital on antibiotics via drip, there was a collection of fluid found when scanned hence the colonoscopy which was fine, I've lost 1 and half stone since op as like I cant eat. No body tells us about the life after we will have, it's just horrendous. I've even thought why did I bother with op in first place, only I didn't have stones my gallbladder had failed and needed removed. I'm sure you have questioned that too. Jo I'm sure your super stressed out, your situation will not be easy at all. It's hard enough dealing with this on a daily basis without the added stress of missing all your wee family unit as well. My heart goes out to you. Sending you a hug , we all need one of those sometimes. please let me know how you get on, keep in touch.

Hi Jo thank you so much for your lovely message. I really feel for you, sounds like you have been through the mill, with your health. I agree it is awful the side effects and ill health prior to the operation and adjusting to the new life after.
I really empathize with what you have been through.
I am determined to get my health back on track, there is not much health from the NhS i appreciate that they dont have the time or monies. But this is an area of health along with so many more that needs addressing. That health professionals are able to advise on a diet plan to give some structure to the lifestyle change.
I do a lot of research to try and help myself best i can and try to help others in the same boat as myself. i will keep in touch kind regards JO

HI Jo, thank you for your message and kind words. I get my results Thursday tomorrow, had to wait a week for the doctors phone consultation so guess its nothing too much to worry about.
I hope your feeling better and the antibiotics are working for you.
Sorry with the delay responding, going through a lot of stress waiting to move to our new home. living in temporary accommodation be two months if were still here end of May and our pets in the cattery. not bee eating great due to stress and the fact its too expensive to eat out.
I really feel this is playing a big part in why im feeling not well, i am taking cocodamol tablets to take the pain off.
I hope your feeling better, i found the antibiotics made a difference to me and the tender part of my stomach and ribs stopped hurting. let you know tomorrow what the doctor says.
take care kind regards JO
