Problems when retracting foreskin

Hey guys,
I'm uncircumsized, and have been masturbating since I was like 14. I've always masturbated with the foreskin covering the glans, like rubbing my foreskin back and fourth, without actually retracting it. (this is my first question, how do uncircumsized males usually masturbate?)
Anyway, my problem is, for like two years i thought I had phimosis (tight foreskin) because my foreskin was pretty tight, and that's stopped me from restracting my foreskin for my whole life. I'm 18 now, and just recently I manned up and decided to retract my foreskin. Turned out pretty easy to do, and realised I don't have phimosis (or maybe just a mild case of it).
So I've been retracting my foreskin in the shower lately, to clean it. The glans were very sensitive at first, but after a few weeks of touching it and letting the shower water touch it, it's all good now. When I get erect and pull my foreskin down, it hurts a little bit because it's choking my penis, but after like 30 seconds it stops hurting. Also I can't pull it down fast, I gotta pull it down slowly when it's erect.
But my problem is, apparently when a normal uncircumsized male gets an erection, the foreskin automatically retracts by itself. That's not the case for me, I have to do it manually. Also, when I do retract my foreskin, it all bunches up under the head of my penis, and turns red. When I get an erection is turns VERY red and I think it's actually choking my penis because my penis goes a shade of purple darker down at the bottom of the head. Also I think I have a short frenulum, maybe that's why it all bunches it up down there. Or maybe I have excess foreskin, if that's a thing.
My question is, is this going to go away? I know this is happening because my penis has been covered by my foreskin my whole life, but will it, overtime, become more loose like a normal uncircumsized penis, and not turn red and bunch up below the head, and also automatically retract when I get an erection? Do I need to do any stretches, or consult a doctor? Will it be uncomfortable during sex?
Thanks guys.

It sounds like you have something called Phimosis. This is actually quite a common condition, and affects people to a varying degree.
You are doing the right thing retracting your foreskin in the shower to clean under it, which will help prevent your penis from getting irritated.
Phimosis can be treated by applying a steroid cream prescribed by your GP and gently stretching your foreskin so that it can slide over the glans (head) of your penis easily. Sometimes if this doesnt work, then you might need to be referred to a hospital doctor to talk about circumcision (a minor operation to remove the foreskin). So I would definitely recommend seeing your GP sooner rather than later- they are very used to seeing this sort of thing, and hopefully it will just be a case of getting some cream and carrying on using your penis as usual!
In the mean time, if you find that your foreskin gets stuck behind your glans like you described and you can't get it back, then you should head straight to A&E. They can use some local anaesthetic and put it back for you, before any damage is done. Again its something that they will be used to seeing, so don't hesitate because you are too embarrassed!
Hope this helps.

I'll probably take your advice and go to my local GP for that cream. Circumsision is definitely not an option.
My foreskin doesn't get stuck when erect, (I think that's called paraphimosis or something), but I just have to manually put it over the head.
Thanks dude.

1. Masturbation is essentially an individual practice. We discover the best method for ourselves because no penis is exactly the same as another.
2. I doubt you have phimosis in its absolute sense, because you can still retract your foreskin. You may have a phimotic 'condition' which can be eased with stretching and a steroid cream if you really want to try that, but frankly I think you're OK as you are!
3. Just a 'heads-up'. We have many glands in our body, but males have just one 'glans'. It's a singular word we use for the head of our penis. The proper medical term is 'glans penis'.
4. Your glans is very sensitive because it's supposed to be. It works in tandem with your inner foreskin which is rich with fine-touch nerve endings, giving you the ultimate in sexual pleasure whether masturbating or in the act of sexual intercourse.
5. A normal uncircumcised (often called 'intact') penis, is self-cleaning. Why would nature make it any other way? So no need to 'clean' under the foreskin. Think about it.
6. Luke, yes when some men have an erection, the foreskin retracts to some extent. But many others don't at all. As I said, every penis is different.
7. You may have some excess foreskin tissue, but it's nothing to do with your frenulum. You could consult your doctor with his/her opinion about a partial circumcision perhaps - but you should accept their advice. Ultimately, a visit to your GP is very important.
8. Back to your first question, as I promised.
I had to be circumcised in adulthood - the end result of genital abuse as a boy (a subject not for discussion here).
So all I can say is that I long for my foreskin back again. It can never be.

Thank you heaps for taking time to pretty much cover everything I asked, good man.
I'll retract my foreskin often and see how it goes from there, if it loosens a bit and doesn't squeeze my penis that much when erect.
If I get no results in a few months, I'll try for the steroid cream and going to the GP.
Once again, thanks heaps my man.
