Problems with breathing.

I was prescribed Ramapril for high blood pressure 11 weeks ago while taking it I suffered from a persistant dry cough and breathlessness,

I only took Ramapril for 3 weeks because of severe breathing problems.

It is now 8 weeks since discontinuing Ramapril I am still having breathing problems. I have had tests which have eliminated asthma.

I would like to know if anyone else has experienced problems after discontinuing Ramapril.

I stopped taking Ramipril twelve months ago because it gave me a dry cough, however my blood pressure started to rise during the snow when I couldn't take any exercise. I informed the doctor who told me to go back on Ramipril and I did. He told me my cough would go in six months and he was on the same tablets. My cough has now returned and the doctor has given me some cough mixture. I also feel a loss of strength and feel sleepy.

How are you feeling now? I suffered terrible side effects to Ramipril and stopped taking it 8 weeks ago. I still get the side effects every day but they are very slowly diminishing. It has been the worst experience of my life so far....especially as Doctors do not believe me and have suggested I have made myself menopausal; that I have anxiety; and have left me to get on with it! I can't go back to work yet, and am just hoping it will all go soon! Hope you are well now.

Hi, I was on Ramapril for 12 twelve months for HBP. Oh it worked wonders for my blood pressure but after the first few weeks I developed problems with me bowels, the minute I ate anything I had to run for the loo then ofcourse I developed the most incredible persistent dry tickly cough I gave it a go determinded to stick it out, aftyer all how long does it take for it all to kick in and your body starts to respondn. Well suffice to say my work colleagues, friends and family and most of all myself got really tired of coughing all the time and I mean ALL THE TIME, day and night after sleepless night, that I gave in and went back to my GP. As well as the dreaded cough my hairdresser advised me to see my gp about my hair who in turn told me that I had alopecia. In for a penny in for a pound, eh? Well I am now trying amlodopine my cough is slowly subsiding I cough less, me bowels have gotten better perhaps I am wee bit the opposite now but hey my hair may have started growing back in but the cough is hanging on for a wee bit longer it would seem along with some new symptoms from the amlodopine like, raised BP, gaining a stone within 10 days of starting 10mg tabs, hugely swollen foot/ ankle and leg, itchy skin to mention a few. Never mind ..early days..... back to the drawing board.. oops GP that is. Never felt so ill, sore and miserable AND FAT before... now that's not normal! :? well for me maybe it is... I think not :D
