Problems with cyst on my scalp

I'm not sure what type of cyst it is, possibly a pilar cyst? It's firm to the touch, can ache when pressed and I've had it for years.

I'll try and make this as succinct as possible but I apologise for the long windedness

Had a cyst on my scalp for years, started off very small and has grown its a bit hard to judge the size but it's maybe about an inch and half.

About 6 years ago I had an attempt to have it removed. Unfortunately it didn't seem to heal, just leaked fluid & crusted over for about 2 years and basically grew back - which i was warned could happen .

It then seemed to grow like a bit of horn which i accidentally picked off about 2 years ago. Again another cycle of it not healing and just leaking fluid -a clear, pale yellow, which crusted over, the crust would get disturbed, it'd leak again etc

Around a month ago it seemed to become infected, I managed to get an appointment at my drs surgery where I saw a nurse and she got 1 of the drs to look at it. they gave me a course of anti biotics and told me to phone again once it had cleared up to see about getting it removed.

I took the course but it still seemed a bit infected, phoned the drs again and was prescribed some antibiotic ointment & said i'd need to wait at least 6 weeks to let things settle down because they can't remove it if its infected as it will just grow back.

So i've used the cream for a week and I have no idea if its improved any or not. I seem to have 2 craters in it. I assume one is from the failed removal and the other from picking off the horn. It's still leaking fluid, which is yellowish in colour & really smells really horrible which I don't think it did before. I think i would have noticed it. I'm just assuming it's my body trying to fill in the craters with whatever the cyst is made up of.

I just don't know if I should just leave it to let it settle down a bit, am I ok trying to soak up the discharge with a tissue when it happens or is there some other care I should be taking?

I've included a picture of what it looked like this morning. I apologise for the quality but i have to take a video with my phone and then screen cap a still

image.
