Problems With Eyes Feeling Tight Making Me Feel Off Balance

Posted , 10 users are following.

Anyone have issues with their eyes feeling tight whereby it affects your balance? I also have pain around my eyes at times too (seemingly in the muscles surrounding the eyes). If I look up or down or across the room too fast, it makes me feel like I've just gotten off a carnival ride! I'm 56 and in menopause for sure. This eye feeling makes me feel real anxious.

    Hi Nettie...

My eyes were the 1st problem peri gave me. I would see stars when turning my head too quickly. Headaches from the stiffness. After a year with no period, eyes are dry. The skin under the eyes and one eye lid are constantly dry and flaky.. I suffer from psoriasis also, which the lack of hormones only made worse. I use drops EVERY day. Over the years I've had all kinds of tests that all came back normal. Turning 50 in December. THIS is ONE ride that I didn't sign up for. Who did though, right?! It SUCKS!

I don't want to be a negative Nancy, but the xray tech who did my recent ultrasound said it doesn't really get better. She has to be in her mid 50s. I must say the hot flashes have more or less stopped. But I'd personally rather those than the aches and pains and damn dehydration. Whomever called these the golden years was obviously not a 50 year old woman!

Nettie, i could of sworn i wrote your message. i just turned 56 on last Monday and i too feel my eyes are tight and being twisted out my eye sockets, it makes me feel slightly dizzy and off balance as you say as if I've just got off a carnival ride or escalator, it makes me anxious too. i started in peri at 49 and the menopause three years ago. If you look back at all my posts since 2012 I've gone through most of the horrendous symptoms and I'm still fighting my way out of most of them. I'm afraid i have no advice for you to clear this but just wanted to answer your post to let you know your not alone with this. sending you a comforting slightly off balance hug x

Oh, yes...the first time I experienced this was about 7 years ago before I even knew I was beginning perimenopause. Scared me to pieces, for sure! It was the beginning of health anxiety hell. But....after many doctor visits and talking to friends and the wonderful women on this forum, I have calmed down. I now realize that hormonal fluctuations will cause a multitude of crazy scary symptoms.

the eye thing/ dizzy head rush feeling will calm down too.

Thank you, Ladies, for your quick responses. This has been so scary and knowing others are experiencing the same symptoms really helps. Knowing I'm not alone that is.... again thank you!!!

Yes, same here! Have to blink loads, eyes are so dry which doesn't help when I work on a pc all week. I have invested in some eye drops which I hope work. I don't do eyes! Can't even touch them!
