Problems with IOL?

Posted , 9 users are following.

Hi. I had an AcrySof monofocal set for distance implanted in my right eye a week ago. My distance vision has been crystal clear in that eye until yesterday and today. It seems to be getting worse. Distance is a little blurry now, in that eye, and I'm seeing double stoplights (green is really bad, red is OK). I feel like I need glasses. Kind of disappointed in spending $2K just to need glasses for distance a week later. Is this normal?

Be aware your vision can vary a lot during the first weeks after surgery especially while still taking the eyedrops during that period.

I had some days in the first few weeks after surgery where my vision in my right eye got very blurry and worse than 20/100 but got back to good vision a few days later. Finally settled around 20/25-20/30 vision after 6 weeks.

I also have a monofocal toric IOL and worried it was rotating, but turned out it didn't - I think the healing and steroid drops caused the vision to vary a lot for 6 weeks, my vision didn't get stable until the drops were stopped at that point. So hang in there, may improve like it did for me.

Thanks for this. I had dropless surgery, so I have never been on any drops.

Thats also why they don't recommend getting a new eyeglasses Rx until about 2 months+ after surgery. I did get a new Rx after only one month and had to redo it later on since it was too soon...

The surgeon did say my eye structures were/are very weak. I don't know if that is contributing. He wasn't really clear on the relevance of that to my current issue.
