Problems with PIP, please help

Hello fibro friends

I applied for PIP mid December last year and was refused so I appealed and went to a tribunal mid November this year. I got a letter at the beginning of December saying I had been successful at the tribunal and been awarded PIP, but the very same day I received another letter saying my PIP claim runs out mid December and I should make a new claim if I think I'm eligible.

I just wondered if anyone knows about this and whether we have to apply every year for PIP?

Hi there, I do know that there are no lifetime awards for PIP as there were with DLA but the length of time between reapplying varies from person to person.

I'd contact the DWP, explain that your tribunal was only last month and that everything in the tribunal papers is still valid. It could be that the department who deal with renewing claims are unaware of the tribunal.

I can't guarantee it will make a difference but it's worth a shot.

Good luck and I hope you get somewhere x

    Hi There

My advice would be to speak to welfare rights and get them to help you with an appeal and any dr's and specialists who know of your condition to write reports.  Welfare rights will help you get it.

Mine runs out in 2018, you need to get on the phone right away on Monday, use the letter from the one saying you have it and then tell them about the other letter. Hope this gives you direction.

Thank you everyone for your advice!

I phoned DWP this morning and explained the situation, and it seems I have to make a new claim as the people at the tribunal awarded it to me for only one year, which ends three weeks after the tribunal. Seems mad to me, did they think I was going to somehow get better in a few weeks or what, I really don't know.

      Hi There

This time get Welfare rights to help you with form and everything it might end up better for it.

      Thanks Kipper,

are you talking about a specific organisation or just generally someone in welfare rights?
