Professional Advice

I would be interested if there are any Medical Professionals out there looking at these forums, I know someone posted about the HRT they recommend to their patients, so there must be, and I know one lady has shown so much enthusiasm about estriol used in Europe for over 30 years and research suggests can even protect against some forms of bc , surely there is some advice that can be derived from Specialists in this area, for ladies who are against some forms of HRT we are living in the 21st century, have worked all our lives and are hoping to carry on working with a quality of life but not putting our health in jeopardy especially ladies with family history of BC, this is such a diverse subject any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Kathryn. My name is Sharzad Green and i am a pharmacist and specialize in bio-identical hormone replacement therapy(for over 18 years). I believe in offering choices to women. I also think there are some non-hormonal approaches that help with menopausal symptoms. Please feel free to message me so i can give you a link to my FB page and website where I discuss hormones and more. Be well

Hi Kathryn  I wrote on here a few weeks ago about how much I suffered for months and months and found out I was allergic to all the creams and ointments that my doctor gave me.  After waiting months for an appointment to see a gynaecologist, as this is the UK,  who was no help at all I went back to my own doctor and told him about all the research I’ve done myself and that I wanted to try an HRT patch which is oestrogen and progesterone, it’s called Evorel Conti.  He agreed with me that my quality of life was being ruined and even though I’m 76 and there is a slight risk of breast cancer on it, that if it helped then it’s worth the risk.  Anyway I’ve been on it about 2 months now and I am completely better.  No more dryness and pain and I feel so well it’s like I’ve been given a new lease of life.  So as you say we’re in the 21st century and people are living longer so why shouldn’t we stay as well as we can as long as we can.

I have seen some GYN's reply, but the thing is, we are also looking for answers beyond the "book." Sometimes the docs follow the books; example: You presented with 'this' which means we run 'this' test and treat 'this' way. Many of us are looking beyond what is typical and are trying to stress that menopause is not exactly understood by physicians.

There is a website called UpToDate, which has a lot of evidence based medical treatments and documentation, if interested.
