Hi

If you are on hrt patches and take 14 days of progesterone tablets a month could you still be low in progesterone?

Absolutely you could.  Everyone's body is different, both in needs and absorbtion.  You can be on the wrong dose of estrogen, or given too much or too little progesterone as well.  I am assuming you are posing this question due to labs or symptoms?

Care to explain more about your situation?

I am on Evorel patches which I change twice in the week. 14 days if the month I take progesterone tablets which are 100mg. I started Hrt 7 to 8 weeks ago. The last week when I'm in bed I've had a frightening feeling come over me and my heart beats heavily. It's awful. I've woke up wet and clammy. It's not hot sweats. They seem to have eased x

You didn't mention how old you are, or your menopause status.  Have you had a hysterectomy, or is your uterus in tact.

And I'll assume this feeling comes over you in bed, while you are taking progesterone, but not on the estradiol patch only?

Hi Michelle. hormone levels do fluctuate through the month. i started hrt about 7 wks ago too(1/4/16)... i am on the estrogen gel 1 pump every night, then days 15-26 i take progesterone tablets. i have been monitoring my many peri symptoms since starting hrt... so far although i am only on cycle no.2 since starting, i have noticed my peri symptoms worsen roughly around days 10-15 then lessen again. my gp & i have agreed to keep going on current dose for a further 2mths to build a bigger picture of success on this dose as some symptoms may take longer to improve. on the whole so far many of my symptoms are significantly better: on/off low mood, anxiety/panic/edgy nervous feeling, palpitations, period like cramping, & sleep. symptoms that are a little bit better/less frequent: off balance feeling, brain fog/forgetfulness/lack of concentration & focus, wobbly legs/faint/ dizzy, overwhelmed by small things/tearfulness, stubborn headaches. I have had no change with the terrible tiredness (despite much better sleep), the night sweats, & hope alot of the "little bit better" symptoms will be further improved with more time on the hrt. i am supposed to take both parts of the hrt at bedtime. one thing i did find is if i took the progesterone capsules too soon after eating it made me feel dizzy, faint, clammy & racy chest like a bit of funny turn which did pass within about 10-15mins. this happened a couple of times, & both times it was when i took them fairly soon after eating (like if i wanted to go to bed early or had eaten late). i now make sure i take them at least 3hrs after dinner & all fine. it does say on the leaflet to take them on an empty stomach (but doesnt say why), so maybe this caused the funny turns. just thought i'd mention it as if you are taking your progesterone soon after food, could also be causing your frightening "funny turns" as i tend to call them. i made a list of all my symptoms & did my own "review" of symptoms the other day before i saw my doc, so i could actually analise whats improved. it helps me & doc to monitor success of the hrt & whether a dose adjustment may be necessary further down the line. also by doing this, it does actually make you see the some things have actually subtly got bit better/less frequent when you do a before & after hrt list on paper!! rome wasn't built in a day as the saying goes. hope this helps hun. stick with the hrt... xx
