Progress Has Slowed

Hi all... I am almost 10 weeks post op and in the last couple of weeks I feel like my progress has slowed. I am doing all the prescribed exercises, I'm icing, I'm taking Ibuprofen when sore, I'm walking and doing stairs and yet I still have quite a limp and need to use a cane to stop it. Any other advice out there? I will be seeing my physio when I get back from a trip second week of July. Until then is there anything that has worked for anybody else? Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi Yabut,

I limp as well without the stick, I am 11 weeks on wednesday. The limping for me is because the thigh bone that was drilled and holds the implant has not yet recovered. The general feeling on the forum seems to be it takes time and you cannot rush the healing. I think we need to be patient, keep walking and the limp will one day disappear. Take care, you will recover.

Hi Jen. That very well could be the case for me too. Muscle-wise Im very strong. So the bone is probably the offender.

I get frustrated cause I see others walking unaided so fast. I know we all heal differently... but still.

      Cheers!♡

Hi all, I am limping and in terrible pain, but from the back of my pelvis on the the non operated side as the operation has left me with approx 4cms leg discrepancy . I feel a lot more disabled now. I was so excited to have the op but it’s turned out really bad. I live in France. Had the follow up appointment with my surgeon last week. He didn’t want to know about the pain or discrepancy so I feel quite devastated. I can’t walk anywhere. I wish I had it done in UK.

I had my op on 30th April, about 9 weeks? If it was wasn’t for this leg discrepancy I would be doing ok.

    Hi Yabut,

I am 5 months out from my RTHR and am still limping. I've been going to physical therapy twice a week & seeing a chiropractor for adjustments. I also have a leg length discrepancy so am wearing a lift in my left shoe. I can't yet walk my dogs like I used to - up to 3 miles daily. Once around the block & my gait is so awkward it is hard to go any farther. My PT & chiropractor are stumped because everything looks good - my muscles are strong, Both have started doing deep tissue massage over & around my scar - it's painful, but it's helping. I go back to see my surgeon at my request next week to see if he can help me get rid of this limp. Again, everyone says healing is different for different people & takes time. My sister is 3 months out from a LTHP - anterior - and has been walking 4 miles a day for a month already!  Just keep moving!

Yes...I believe we do have to just keep moving. I sure hope you find relief with your issues! 5 months on this way must be frustrating!!♡

      Thankyou Gidygirl xo
