Prolapsed bladder

Last night I went to go to the bathroom, and my bladder fell down through the vagina area, feeling like a great big ball trying to get out.  I managed to push it back up, but it keeps slipping down, and I am having trouble urinating.  are there any tricks to getting that darn bladder to stay where it belongs.  My stomach looks like I am around seven months pregnant...I had a hysterectomy back in 2001, and I have had two children...thank you for any advice you can give me...

Forgot to mention. If you are having trouble urinating you may have a kink in your prolapse bladder when it is hanging or starting to fall out. I have heard of that before as well. Matron is correct that if you have any pain or problems with going to the bathroom, you should have that looked at just to make sure. I do not have pain and can urinate fine even though my prolapse is stage 3. But if I had trouble urinating, I would want to know if there is a solution for that too.

You need to see a doctor carole because you have the additional problem of difficulty urinating. The last thing you need is to suffer from retention of urine. Obviously the position of the prolapse is affecting your bladder from passing urine.

Thank you all so much for your wonderful comments and suggestions...I got up this morning, and my bladder was back in place for some reason, so I was able to have a lot of urine pass through..thank God...that is so scary to have your stomach getting bigger and bigger and not even have the urge to go...I will try some of these things and will see my OBGYN soon....hugs.

Hello carole so pleased you've managed to pass urine this morning. Your bladder won't feel as prolapsed this morning because you've been laid down in bed. You could find this evening you have a similar problem so you'll need to rest.

Thank you, Matron...I plan on doing that.  I got the big idea to give my doxie dog a bath last night.  He weighs around 15 lbs.  By the time I lifted him out of the sink I felt my whole insides were coming out..the night just got worse...guess I will just have to have a dirty dog from now on....lol

I think you will carole. That's a very big dog. Take care and see you GP.

Actually he is supposed to be a mini doxie, but he is a little overweight...Guess I didn't realize he was dead weight...also carrying groceries can make your prolapse worse...

Oh Carole,ha reminds me of an old song lol. Sorry I digress but you really shouldn't be lifting anything heavy at all.As Matron says go see your GP xxx

Not only is lifting bad, but squatting is bad also. I am 8 weeks post-op from cystocele repair and for me, squatting is worse than lifting, although both are bad and shouldn't be done pre-op or post-op. I kneel down on one knee when I need to squat...works much better.

    Good luck to you!

    God bless!

Last August 2014, the same thing happened to me. It turned out to be both bladder and uterus in my case.  Since you have had a hysterectomy already, it is likely just what is called in North America and anterior repair - attach the bladder.  I had the hysterectomy, the anterior and posterior repairs done at the same time 7 weeks ago.  My sister has been living with the bladder prolapse for some time and awaits her surgery date (she is 92).  Originally, my sister was not supposed to be eligible for surgery but since she had a breast removed last year without complications, they are going to "fix her up".  Neither of us has been given any limitations on what we could do prior to surgery and we have different doctors.  Best advice has already been given to you.  See your doctor as soon as possible and follow orders - whatever they are.  We both do our heavy work in the morning when possible but working evening shifts makes that impossible sometimes.

I had many problems the first few weeks - this forum kept me sane.  I am now 7 weeks 2 days post op and writng this at 9;30 PM EDT at work.  All is well except the swelling.  I was told by my 3 physicians (uro-gynolocolist, urologist and family doctor) that it will take between 3 and 6 months for me to get back to "normal".  I have a friend who had the same surgery as me and had some issues for the first week and then nothing.  Friend or not, you do get the urge to strangle them...

So take care, see a doctor ASAP and let us know any concerns.  Everyone here has gone through what you are going through and can empathize - whatever the problem I swear!

    My prayers are with you.
