Prolapsed disc’s and wont do surgery

Hi can anyone help is anyone have similar problems i have

L2/L3 disc bulg impinging upon the anterior aspect of the thecal sac.

L3/L4 broad-based left foraminal disc protrusion impinging upon the anterior aspect of the thecal sac contacting with the extraforaminal  left L3 nerve root.

L3/L4 disc space narrowing

L3/L4 small disc protrusion on right.

Marginal osteophytes on the endplates.

L2 to L4 disc dehydration 

Multilevel facet joint hypertrophy causing moderate left dominant foraminal stenosis most marked at L3/L4

I have had this procedure done which failed to help left lumber radio frequency denervation L3 L4 L5 V48.5 V55.3

I am on 50mg of oxycodone a day which is the equivalent of 100mg of morphine which does not touch the pain at all i am having to use a walking stick to get around noe due to pain and weakness in my left thigh and sometimes use a scooter in shops but so far kings have refused me surgery i am now trying to go back and see my back specialist to see what can be done.

    Not a fan of radio frequency denervation either, plus it isn't meant to be permanent, but your problem is.  I take it that is the only block you have had?  You are on a whopping dose of oxycodone, you must be in the UK LOL, your doc would be losing his license in the states....anyway, I know you are hurting, but I wouldn't be in such a rush for surgery.  In my time as a pain management specialist I saw far too many failed back surgery patients. I would really recommend you try a series of epidural steroid blocks first.  I have done these multiple times in the past when my back has gotten bad and it has kept me out of surgery.  I now have a spinal cord stimulator.  So, I'd suggest both of those before I'd see a surgeon.  Once you let them in there you have messed up your back for good....

      Hi thanks for you reply I for got to say in my thread that I have also have had a medial branch block done at left l3/4 l4/5 l5/S1 which lasted 2 weeks and have also had Transformational epidural steroid nerve root block injections done which lasted less then 2 days.

    Don't no if this will help but im having same problem on myback and been to doctors had test and scans on every pain killler under sun I asked for surgery to remove the prolapsed disc they said no hull hospital will not operate on backs just for back pain so instead cause my morphine and zomorph and gabapentin not working any more they putting me on a plan to come off my tablets and go to york hospital for multidiserplinary pain clinic fot physio dont no if they have let you try that but good luck

      Hi thanks for your message i have had physio, acupuncture, and also a chiropractor all off which seemed to make my pain worse i have had loads of other medication but suffered with bad side effects the only one that does that cause side effects is oxycodone but the dose I’m on is not touching the pain anymore.
