Hi, I have been taking propanaol for migraines for three months which have helped a a lot but the side affects are agony after my GP has just upped the dose! I'm not sleeping and have joint pain in most parts of my body, swelling in feet and chest pain (muscular) is any one else suffering with these side effects and are they likely to settle?

    Hi Lisa-lou,

This is often the case when medicines are increased to try and improve symptoms.  It's possible they will settle and you will notice this in a few days, but quite frankly if the symptoms are that bad, as sandpiper says you should go back to speak to your dr about this.  In all medicines that we take to control these aweful migraines we all get, we have to way up the possible benifit we are likely to get against side effects.  Only you can decide that.

Lisa-lou, please let us know how you get on, on here we offer all the support you want.

    Good luck

    Hi Lisa-lou

I have joint pain with any of the medications I take so is it possible that your joint pain is just part of your migraines?

      Hi Trudy

It's the only time I have had joint pain. The chest and hips are the worst particularly at night or after resting.

I think that you should not put up with these side effects, if possible come off the pills.
