Hi Paul, please dont worry about quetiapine, it is an excellent tablet. But yes, one of the side effects is it makes you drowsey and can deffinetly help with sleeping. 25mg is a low dose, quetiapine is used mainly for bipolar, depression so dont worry.

I am on 200mg, my girlfriend went as high as 800mg. Side effects are a dry mouth, and very drowey, so you must take it at night, at least 8 hours before you need to get up. The drowseyness does get better, as in the beginning it can really knowck one out, the level of droweyness does lift, but a certain amount will alsways be there, so you will have to judge when to take the tablets. I take mine at around 7pm and by 9.30- 10am I am preparing for bed. I find the drowsey feelings lift around about 10am. On..I almost forgot, you get the XR version, which is the slow release version. I have been on this before, and the drowseyness lasts much longer till about 1pm the next day. But having said this, this is only a small price to pay, for being such a great tablet, we are all different granted, but this tablet has saved my life. Hope this helped, Rob

Thanks rob thats great. Have found over the last couple of weeks on the propronanlol to be up and down, started really tired / spaced out most days but has slowly improved, definitely calmer overall though. Now able to follow a fairly steady routine and sleeping bit better so bit apprehensive of taking new medicine as well, worried about being too tired on it / lethargic with work etc. but ultimately moods have been up and down and have lost fair amount of weight so maybe worth trying? Just concerned about putting something into my body that's quite strong too, big decision to make!

Hi Paul, quetiapine will also help with the anxiety, and give you a better quality of life. I have been on alot of other meds in my life and quetiapine has been one of the better ones. Sorry to tell you but one of the side effects of quetiapine is weight gain. But one has to then eat a healthy diet, cut out trhe bread etc, lots of veg, quality protein and fruit, and lots of water. I didnt follow this initially and but on a few kilos, now sticking to the above. Ahhh...also forgot, after taking quetiapine in the eveing one gets the munchies, and everything tastes so much nicer, so be warned, dont slip up and raid the fridge, regards Rob

Thanks, I'm happy to put on weight as I've lost a fair bit recently. I eat pretty well anyway so sure that will be fine too. Just seems a massive step being such a strong medication and quite scary. Supposed to take it at 10pm (I get up for work at 7am) but still apprehensive! Tired this morning as it was. What are the benefits do you find? See mixed reviews online. Thanks for this really appreciate it Paul smile

Hi Paul, I have Bi-Polar and server depressive episodes. Before I was placed on quetiapine I was unable to cope, hold down my job, and had several sucide attemps. I how am in a steady job, am happy, go for walks, ride my bike, the fear of the unknown has gone, that terrible anxiety has also gone. Yes, some days I feel more sleepy than other, and I have had to hide it from work colegues, so I go to my car and have 30mins sleep then I am ok. Cheers Rob

Ok thanks rob and good to hear the benefits you have experienced really appreciate it. Being young it is quite nerve wracking but if it makes me more content / focused and gets rid of the fear of the unknown / anxiety that's good enough for me smile like you say everyone is different though. Will decide later on what's for the best. Thanks for your time appreciated smile

    Hi Paul,

I take 175 q at night and 40mg Propranalol 3 times a day. They work fabulously together for me. I take the q 12hours before I need to be functioning, because otherwise I feel sleepy. I go to college, so I take it at 8pm then go to sleep at 9pm and wake upat 7am. I'm fine when college starts at 9am. Propranalol and q go well together for me. I hope they also go well together for you.
