Propranolol 10mg (x3 a day) - already feeling the benefits

For anyone plagued with physical symptoms of anxiety, such as heart palpitations, sweating and stomach pain, I can only honestly recommend propranolol - I’m on 10mg, three times a day [started on Wednesday] (if you’re fearful of medication, you can take on a need-to-take basis, so you’re not always “drugged up” as, unlike antidepressants, it works in about 15 minutes) and the benefits have already been great. My mind still plagues with worry, but the anxiety doesn’t manifest as bad physically, which makes “getting on with it” a bit easier. My heart palpitations have basically stopped, my sweating isn’t nearly as bad and my stomach pain is almost gone. The side effect I’m experiencing is tiredness, but for someone who struggles sleeping at night, I gladly accept the side effect. It’s definitely worth a mention to your GP if you’re struggling with the physical manifestation of anxiety.

Hi Callum great post, makes a change to hear someone actually being positive about a medication that really does help with the dreadful symptoms of anxiety and panic disorders, you have taken some responsibility for your health by being brave enough to take the medication.

Propropanol, yes it does make you a bit tired at first but that does ease of once your body adapts but I know which I prefer, as you say you can take as and when for panic attacks but if you suffer with daily anxiety as in GAD then best to take on a regular basis, well done you

Yes it does help with anxiety and I’d recommend it to anyone.

Unfortunately I developed asthma some years ago and as a result can’t take betablockers! So had to stop taking it 😂😂
