Propranolol

I have been percribed 40mg Propranolol as I told the doctor for years I have had a fear of something and now even indirectly confronting it brings on sweating, feeling faint and rapid heartbeat - this can also occur in other siutations i am now a very anxious person. However, when I went to confront my fear and the reactions to it happened, a year or so back I was told at the time my blood pressure was very low and that I should get it checked, usually when my blood pressure is checked it is normal but it has not often been checked in my fearful situation. What worries me is that I have read the propranolol leaflet that propranlol is used to reduce blood pressure and you shouldnt take it with low blood pressure and If I did so I may get some very bad side effects. Do I take it? Speak to my doctor about my concerns? I dont know if I'm just being stupid or not I have always been fine with any tablets I have been perscribed but I have had these tablets for weeks now and not dared take them. Any advice would be appreciated!

Hey I've been on propanol for only 3 days James and I hate the side effects already!

Muscle spasms and my blood pressure is all over the place now!

Fatigue and anxiety from hell too!

My blood pressure went from 120/70 to 90/60 so I stopped taking it (I figured I hadn't been on it long enough to have to wean) only to end up with a BP 168/90 ....??????

Just left the ER and I got looked at as if I'm stupid!

This stuff is crap... dangerous crap!

Now I'm struggling to get away from taking it after 3 GD DAYS?

      Hi Maureen,

I was taking it for just over a week and a half, the first day I took it was the only real problem I've had with it I felt a little faint at times so just drank lots of water to keep my bloody pressure up, however I was only taking one a day after the doctors advise after stating the worry I had about it. Also due to how tired it was making me and pretty much no sleep through the night I was constantly waking up. I'd say it helped to a certain extent I don't know if it was more me thinking it helped it kinda relaxed me a bit but I don't intend on re taking them.

The he side effects youve explained were what I was concerned about if I was you I definitely woudlnt be taking them, fortunately my side effects was mainly just tiredness and lack of sleep.
