Propranolol for SVT

Hi guys I’ve just been prescribed Propranolol 40mg once a day for my supravantricular tachycardia and I had been really hesistant to take beta blockers but now my SVT attacks are getting worse. But I’m really scared of taking them. First and foremost I’m scared of having an allergic reaction to them and then I’m scared of the bad side effects once I’m on them. Does anybody have any experiences with taking 40mg of this once a day?

Hi,I've been on 40mg of propranolol 3 X day for approx 3 yrs...for Paroxysmal Atrial Tachycardia...and I have been fine and not had any real troubling side effects. At first I did feel very cold but that has lessened and I just occasionally get really chilly. I do get quite tired too but then I'm 63 and also have RA. When I think back to how bad I felt, the awful scary symptoms I experienced with PAT it's such a relief to be on the beta blocker and I would be reluctant to come off them. Life is so much better now. I first started on Bisoprolol but found these suited me better. Good luck.

Hi Leyton. I’ve taken propranalol for 30+ years with no adverse side effects. Have tried different meds but nothing works as well as propranalol. I currently am on 40mg per day but I can take it up to 3 times a day if I want
