Prostate

My dad has had prostate issues in the past

He's even had surgery which was successful

He started bleeding about a week ago with some very big clots

Then after being on antibiotics it slowed down and stopped

A couple days later and it started again and has been bleeding for a few days

What can be going on

    Hello ginny

Just a year after prostate removal I had a bleed - following another TURP it was decided that the cancer had regrown in the prostate bed.   I then underwent 33 sessions of RT followed by Zoladex implants every 3 months.   My next blood test and check up is in late September.   I would suggest that a PSA is on the cards may be followed by a biopsy.

It does sound more like an infection but a follow up with doctor seems necessary

    Chin up and good wishes

    Hello Ginny,

your care and concern for your Father are laudable and would appear to be well-founded.   But obviously someone,  somewhere,   is not keeping you fully informed.

Your Father and/or his Med Team should be able to advise you on both the provisional diagnosis and treatment plan.  If your Father does not himself fully appreciate what is going on,  perhaps you can attend appointments with him.  On the other hand if in keeping you in the dark your Father thinks he is sparing you,  you need to tell him that you are most anxious and would like to know what is happening.

Although each case of PCa is unique to the individual nevertheless,  in general,  the progression of the disease is along a pretty well-worn path with  few surprises along the way.  So your Father's Med Team will have a very good idea as to where he is at.

    Kind Regards,

    Dudley
