I am in Oakville in Greater Toronto Area. I am scheduled to go for the said prostate surgery in 2 weeks. Has anyone been through it? My Uro said all the nice stuff about it and assured me of no side effects, no bleeding, and recovery in 6 weeks.
As per him, this method vaporises the tissue on touch, so gives him more control.

Hi. Never heard of "Prostate Contact Resolve Surgery." Does it have another name? What's your condition?--Don

That sounds like the one I just had but different name (Button Plasma TURP) it also vaporizes the prostate on contact but still roto rooters you out. In my case it was an out patient under full anesthesia. It's been 8 days with a cathater. My doctor said the same thing except I will have retro ejaculation.
Is that sound similar to yours?

I'm not familiar with the Prostate Contact Resolve surgery, but it sounds smiliar to the REZUM Procedure...REZUM heats sterile water to Concentrated Steam that's targeted at and kills the prostate tissue that causes the urethra obstruction. The body eliminates the dead prostate tissue through its immune system...Everyone commenting on this forum, including me, have had success with REZUM and haven't experienced side effects, ie. pain or leakage, except a little and temporary bleeding off and on as tissue dies...Normally, there's a quick recovery within 1-3 months.. It's been ~ 2 weeks since my surgery procedure and everything seems to be OK, but I'm still on a direct catheter for at least 1 month due to large retention issues....Suggestion - Go on Aetna Insurance Company's website and search Prostate Procedures for BHP....It mentions ~ 30 treatments and their success rates..REZUM has the highest success rate along with PAE....
GOOD LUCK!...

Hi KCin Toronto and nktoronto
I am a fellow Canadian living in Toronto. I had undergone a PAE clinical trial in February of this year at the Toronto Western Hospital. I was one of 14 men who had done it and 11 were successful and I was of of three who was not successful. Because I have a very large median lobe extending to the bladder. I was very disapointed of the outcome. But they said that this is going to be a regular procedure after the trials at TWH and all costs will be covered by OHIP. I haven't contacted them since. Maybe you can contact the radiology dept and find out. You may need a referal from your urologist.
Also at TWH there was a trial for the itind procedure. But unfortunately I was too late for the trial. The company is based in Mississauga.I contacted their sales team and they said that it may be covered by OHIP after the trials, but if not it is going to cost between $6000 - $7000 Canadian for the procedure.
At the TWH there is a urologist who does the urolift privately who charges $10000 Canadian plus HST Tax for the procedure and for 4 implants. Each extra implant would cost an extra $1000. This is not covered by OHIP and has to come out of your own pocket. Unfortunately because of my large median lobe I am not a candidate for it. I heard that there is only urologist Dr. Peter Chin in Australia who can do a urolift with a large median lobe successfully. It is not practical for me to go to Australia.
I agree with Kenneth to try all posibilities before going for more invasive surgeries like the TURP and GL Laser.
I am going to see if I can do the itind and if I am a suitable candidate. If not, then I will go for the REZUM. I called the REZUM headquarters in the US and they said that they have not started the procedure in Canada yet. So if I dont get the itind done, I may fly to New York City or San Antonio, Texas to have it done. This procedure costs $3200 USD or about $4200 Canadian dollars.

Did you hear back on ITind ? medi-tate website says its available in Canada. Not sure who is doing it now. I am in Oakville area but I guess I could have it done anywhere in Ontario. Is that correct?

Hi
I had spoken to the spokesperson at medi-tate in Mississauga and they said that at the moment they were having trials at Toronto Western Hospital. I was too late for the trials. After these trials it may be commercially available. But they are not sure if it is going to be covered by OHIP or it has to be paid by the individual's own personal expense like the Urolfit.

I spent 2 days trying to fine anything on this and nothing comes up. First of all I would not have anything done that I can't look up and get information on. If it was a Rezum the doctor would but a needle in the prostate and kill the cells from the inside. But it sounds like a laser turp or like Button Plasma turp which will cause the same side effects Cramping, frequent and urgent need to urinate, burning sensation blood in the urine and retro ejaculation. I would tell him no and find something else to try. He just gave you a diffrent name to suger coat it. I think you will be sorry...They are other treatment you can try please cancel before it's to late Ken

Hi Ken,
I could continue having a good catheter or go for laser TURP surgery. What other options are there?
I am reading about Pae that's not encouraging either.

My Uro said Retro is a given, but none of his patients suffered incontinence so far. With laser, there is less bleeding since laser seals the blood vessels.
I have the same fears like you. Side effects may be worse than what my URO is disclosing. For UROs, it is a question of money, a fancy car, bigger house,.. whatever the patients suffers afterwards.

I know what your saying but alot of urologist will say that but have you talked to any of the patients. Alot of there answers come from books. If you have been on this site for a while you will read alot of men that are not happy with the turp or laser. I know there is less bleeding but who wants to take that chance. I would rather have something that is not cutting away at my prostate. It's going to stay with me until I die. I think you said your having surgery soon. Are you sure you picked the right one for you. I like the saying when the urologist tells you everything will be the same and your orgasm will be the same. That is just a test book answer. No man has the same orgasm Men has the same body parts so they asume it will be the same. I don't know if you were ever on a pill that causes dry orgasm. Let me tell you it is not the same You can get the built up but when you think it going to happy it goes flat. That are the way mine were I got off them pills fast. After I had the urolift my orgasm are more intence they they were when I was younger. I like to stay that way. Take care buddy and good luck. ken
