Hello.  I was not going to post but there are alot of men that have not been satisfed with alot of there doctors  I was at my urologist to have a catheter removed from a procedure I had on Friday.  Well this man was in the waiting room and we started to chat but never got into any problems  He was called and I was still waiting for the nurse.  About 15 minutes he came out and I over here him say that he was going to have a Turp next month. Before he left asked him if the doctor ( Not Mine ) told him about any other procedures.  He told me no and he said that the doctor said that it was the best to go with.  I ask him did the doctor give him any information.  He said a little and that sex would be the same.  I ask  if the doctor told him that it would cause retro orgasm.  He said no.  That there will be no change and it will be just like before the surgery.  Well right before he lift he canceled his surgery for now and say to me I need to get more information before he had anything done.  Please men what ever procedure you have get as much information you can.  If you are going to have a Turp ask your doctor for a pill that will give you retro orgasm so you can see what it is like and if you can live with it.  Take care Ken

I am 75 years old and after examination by my GP, I was diagnosed as having benign prostrate hyperplasia. My GP told me that this was common in men of my age  and I wasn't referred to a Urologist. However several months later I moved house and my new GP referred my to a one stop Urology clinic. My prostrate was examined and I was also given a a cystoscopy. A cystoscope is a thin tube with a camera and light on the end. During a cystoscopy, this tube is inserted through your urethra and into your bladder so the doctor can visualize the inside of your bladder. Your urethra is the tube that carries urine out of your bladder. Magnified images from the camera are displayed on a screen where your doctor can see them.

I was later in the day seen by a Consultant Urologist, who was also a surgeon. I was at the 'one stop' clinic for most of the day, but received the all clear, i.e. no cancer in bladder etc but was prescribed a drug called Cialis which is licenced mainly for erectile dysfunction which I have due to multiple sclerosis. However, this drug is also used if an enlarged benign prostrate is discovered at cystoscopy. I was prescribed Cialis 20mg per day and my prostrate has now reduced to normal, and also for the first time in quite a few years I was able to get an erection. Most of all these prcedures were carried out in hospital as a day case, and the results given before I went home. I'm not sure if all NHS hospitals have facilities like this, but it certainly was a great relief to have all these results on the same day.

My wife is a retired Staff Nurse and it was thanks to her that I went to my GP when I had early syptoms of Nocturia, which means passing rather too much urine in the night.

I would urge any readers with Nocturia to see their GP as soon as possible and ask to be referred to a Urologist.

Hope my experience is of help to other readers.

      Hey Jim:

Good to know this.  I never knew that cialis could be used on a prostate.  I always thought that it was used to get an erection as you say.  But since it did two things prostate and erection, that is killing two birds with one stone.  haha  I don't even know what an erection is.  That disappeared when I had two terps many years ago.  Add that to all kinds of medications I am taking, then nada  I am almost 77 and it would be nice to feel it again.  So anyway, your message was nice to read and I am glad it is working for you.  Take care.

Mel glad you have a good out look.  Cialis has been used for many years for the bladder and prostate to relax in a low dose.  I am so happy there are more procedures for men out there then the turp.  That was the gold standard many years ago and they still try to push it not but all men should have all the test they can before they pick anything Have a great day  Ken

I completely agree. My Dr. didn't give me enough information prior except I was a good candidate and he had confidence. He never told me about the retro orgasm or sucess rate.

I have a follow up next week-after  3 months. Very little improvement on all expectations and now I have the retro orgasm. On this visit I will have a list of questions. (also Orgasms are not as intense as before).

All they tell you is that all will be the same.  But there not.  Good luck.  My urologist is the best.  I did not get the information for the hospital urology assitent so I say I want my dr here today.  They sent a message to him and he came after his surgerys and spent 30 minutes with me to explain everything/  The surgery I had the size of catheter for the flush and if my stricture was damaged.  I got all my information   Ken
