Prostatitis or something else?

Hi, symptoms started around 6 /7weeks ago with problems urinating, pain whilst urinating then came a pain just below my belt (lower abdomen) and then pain in my lower back which radiated up. Docs first suspected water infection then kidney stones but CT scan was clear. Then came the feeling of a full rectum which seems to be getting slightly worse. Pain has always been worse when sitting. Bowel movements have not been my norm with added gas Currently just over a week through cirp ab and nothing has changed. Urine samples, stool sample and bloods have come back clear. Oh and an inspection of the prostate gland was done a week ago, doc didn't think it was enlarged but it was definitely very tender. Thanks in advance for any comments.

    Hi,

Really hard to make a diagnostic over the internet but your symptoms match with the ones associated with prostatitis.

Any triggers you can see for your symptoms? Sex, excessive masturbation/edging, other?

Been dealing with those symptoms for the past 6 months now. Caused by excessive masturbation and edging in my case.

Do you also experience urgency/frequency problems?

I took Cipro a few times in the past 8 years when I got the same symptoms (diagnosed as prostatitis by urologist) and they would usually clear within 3-4 days of my 10 days abx courses. This time, cipro did not help much. I took cipro for 10 days in June (6 months ago), symptoms got better but came back 2 weeks after I stopped. Took 10 days of cipro again, got better but symptoms came back again 2 weeks after I stopped and this time with a vengeance. Then I did a 30 days course in July/August and it did nothing (I do not recommend such a long course. It's extremely hard on the system and makes you at much higher risk of serious side effects).

Right now trying Alfuzosin (it helps with the difficulty urinating) and pelvic floor stretches and exercises.

      Hello,

I saw three different urologists over the past 8 years and they all came to the same conclusion after a DRE, 2 biopsies, many urinalysis and PSA tests. Prostatitis. The latest one even did a cystoscopy to check at the urethra and bladder and came to the same conclusion.

Even if I see another one and if he/she comes to a different conclusion (such as PBNO), I would have a hard time to be confident about that diagnostic.

How many urologists does one need to see to be sure he's got the right diagnostic?

      Hard situation.

thanks for your reply. masturbation may be playing a part in mine although i wouldn't say it was excessive, i do seem to edge more than i used to, no idea why!?

I'm not yet sure what triggers which symptoms.

Urination frequency has slightly increased, i seem to need to go an hour or two before i wake up.

I've today been to see my GP, he has stopped my antibiotics (which i was surprised at) and referred me to a urologist. hopefully wont be too long before i get an appointment.

Hi all - how are you and hope you are coping well. I've decided to stop the Tam and Sol , and just keep on the Mirabegron. I will give it till end of Dec and then revisit the Uro.

My Uro also thinks PNBO for me, its a strange term as there is no blockage as such, like stricture or prostate blockage, but more like bladder neck not fully opening? any way keep positive. Im praying that the drugs work for me, if not then botox works, and ultimately bladder neck incision (hoping it does not get to that point)

Ps to all can i ask a very personal question to all on here

One of my very strange symptoms at night time (when im in a half sleeping state) thinking i need to go to urinate and my penis is in 'erect' mode. I think its doing that to hold back the urge to urinate. I've never come across this sensation prior to my bladder issues starting?, very odd indeed

update.... that exact thing happened to me last night around 4am. 🤷🏼‍♂️

I get a similar sensation around 2 hours before i normally go to the loo. lying in bed with pressure feeling on bladder.

quick question to all....does everyone get pain when ejaculating? because i don't, only when urinating.
