Prostatitis/Pelvic Floor Pain

Posted , 3 users are following.

I have been treated for Prostatitis on and off for about 15 years. I am currently 49. After my last cystoscope, the urologist thought the issue was more related to pelvic floor issues and referred me to pelvic floor therapy which was not successful. I still have dull to at times stabbing rectal/perineum pain, tingling sensation in tip of penis, frequent urination/urgency, testical pain, occasional inability to orgasm, some erectile issues. It has gone on for so long that I am almost resigned to "just living with it". Does anyone have any suggestions?

I feel your pain. I'm going through a very similar issues for about 6 months now. Your symptoms sound exactly the same. Some days are better than others, but it never really does away. I was on antibiotics for 8 weeks with no positive results. All of my blood, urine, and PSA results are all good with no issues. My GP Doctors checked out my Prostate and said that it felt enlarged but with no abnormalities. I have an appointment in few weeks with a Urologist. Hopefully he can provide me with some positive feedback and direction.

There was someone else on this site commenting on how he had to change his lifestyle, diet, and exercise more which helped him with his issues. I'm leaning towards this theory as well. I'm 55 years old, probably 25 lbs. over weight, and could certainly to get in better shape. Unfortunately I sit in my office most days. Far too much time sitting on my Butt each day. I do find it good to go for walks. It doesn't make it go away, but certainly helps to not focus on the nagging pain in my groin area. Unfortunate to hear that the pelvic floor therapy didn't help you out at all. I was thinking of pursuing the as well.

Do you ever feel achy and feverish? I get this all the time. Do you ever eat or drink anything that seems to increase your prostatitis symptoms? I have cut out all caffeine and only drink beer and scotch a bit on weekends.

I will let you know if I hear anything positive from my Urologist.

Anyone with advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi, I have a habit of forgetting to check back on this site, sorry for the delay. I honestly have never noticed anything in terms of food/beverage which caused a flare- although i do have IBS and the prostate issues began shortly after those symptoms began. Have you had any luck with the urologist?
