Prostatitis - Wont go away - Given Levofloxacin & Vancomycin

Hello All,

I hope to get some help here. Been suffering from Prostatitis for a year now. I have taken so many medicines with some luck. But the pain and discomfort seems to return.

Today i was just given Levofloxacin along with Vacomycin. I have tried Vaco before and felt great after taken medicine but seem to return.

The reason i was given this medicine was because my Urologist took a DRE sample. He mentioned to me that i could be on this medicine for a while.

Any luck with Levo or Vancomycin?

    Hello All,

I just recently had my follow up with my Urologist. I told him the Vacomycin didnt help. Also i had to stop taking the Levo since it started to hurt my Achilles on my right foot (tendon). He prescribed Amoxicillin for two weeks. He also wants to do a CT scan of my bladder area. He is considering doing a Cytoscopy as well. Although i had one done by a different doctor a few months ago (but he doesnt know that). Any suggestions?

I am considering seeing a different Urologist. Its no dis-respect to on the one i am seeing at the moment. He ahs done everything he can. Its just i think i need to seek a 3rd opinion.

    Thought?

    hello Jha

sorry to hear you are still suffering from extreme prostate pain .

I know it can be very hard to handle . last year after i finished my 3 months on

chephalexin , as soon as i stopped taking the antibiotics the pain came back

along with sexual dysfuntion , I need erectile medicine , my climax is weak not

very intense and the amount of ejaculate is small . so needless to say i was very

depressed , saying to myself when will this ever end . so in jan of 2016 i went to

see my 3rd urologist right away he wanted to do a bacterial culture of my

expressed prostate secretion , it came back positive for bacteria , then he wanted

to do a cystosopy to check out my bladder and prostate , he told me my prostate

looked very inflamed . so he gave me a antibiotic precription for trimethoprim

100mg twice a day for 3 weeks . so here i am 4 months later , i am feeling better

but i am not symptom free i still have discomfort in the prostste area and it does

flare up occasionally . but i don't have searing mid back pain that would come and

go also i don't have prostate spasms anymore . my urologist said he wanted  me

to see a infectious disease specialist if i had any symptoms after my last round of

antibiotics , which i do . so i will be making my appointment soon . and if that does

not work i am still going to look into ( HOLEP ) holmium laser enucleation of the

prostate surgery it removes 80% to 90% of the prostate tissue .

here is a list of things to do if you have chronic bacterial prostatitis

    1. if you are over weight try to lose a few pounds or kilograms

    2. try to exercise as much as possible

    3. remove coffee , alcohol , refined sugar , high frutose corn syrup , spicy food

        from your diet

    4. eat as healthy as possible lots of fruits and vegetables . reduce gluten ?

    5. look into prostate massage for prostatitis , and use a 100 % natural lubricant

    6. try phytotherapy / herbs and supplements . here is a few to look into

zinc picolinate 30mg with 2mg copper , goldenseal root 940 mg

        turmeric 800mg , bee pollen 1000mg , oil of oregano 460mg , cranberry 400mg

        lycopene 15mg , selenium 200mg , saw palmetto 640mg , quercetin 800mg

        milk thistle 2400mg , green tea extract 500mg , flaxseed oil 1400mg

fish oil 1200 mg , 100% craberry juice 8oz daily , grapefruit seed extract 250mg

        probiotic 15-35 , swedish flower pollen 378mg , aged garlic extract 1200mg

    7. get a bacterial culture

expressed prostate secretions or a semen culture

    8. get a cystoscopy to look for abnormalities

    9. antibiotics

make sure you are prescribed antibiotics that can penetrate the prostate

be very careful of any quinolone antibiotics

Hello All  I have a friend that has had prostatitis from the time he was 17 Got it from a kidney infection.  He does watch what he eats and does sometime have a flare up. He does take his antibiotc when this happens it gets better.  He just went to the urologist and had it checked The doctor told him that he should have his prostate out because he has been on antibiotics to many year  And the only why to get rid of it was to have  the prostate removed.  The doctor also told him to go to a sperm bank.  In some not to kind words he told the doctor where to go.  At 31 he not going to have it removed it just causes more problem.  He told the doctor to put him on a new antibiotic if he won't he may look for a doctor. Sometimes at all ages we have to do what is good for us.  Just think about it first  Ken
