Prosthesis Pros and Cons

I have been doing a lot of reading about the various options for hip prosthesis and while I realise that different people will have different needs, I am interested to hear what the wise people on this forum have to say.
Through my reading I have become very keen on the dual mobility prothesis. My surgeon's view seemed to be that the only benefit was a reduced chance of dislocation. He felt that a sufficiently deep cup would confer the same benefits.
From my reading I thought that there were additional advantages including a higher possible level of activity after full recovery and increased range of movement. Is this true?
Does anyone have recommendations on material combinations?
Does manufacturer matter?

Docto said mine was metal and plastic replacement. He didn't go into the ins &outs of different procedures and I didn't ask. Hope yours goes well.

My surgeon said he would be using the Stryker Modular Mobile (MDM X3) bearing hip system for my hip replacement this September. He did my bilateral TKR last fall using custom computer-designed components and I was very pleased with his choice and surgery. I'm hoping this choice goes as well

I had titanium ball and a ceramic cup. I'm in Canada and if you chose ceramic (over some sort of plastic) you have to pay extra. I paid $750 for the ceramic.
