Protopic

I have both LS and LP on the tip of my penis (around the pee hole). Been on clobetasol for 11 weeks, twice daily first 9 weeks and now once and Elidel at night. Eucerin moisturizer too.

I see no real improvement. I read some studies on Protopic (Tacrolimus). Has anyone had success or failure with it?

I'm starting it next week. I took the studies to my Derm and she prescribed it. We shall see.

    HI JJ,

I Used clobetasol for a month which got rid of the white spots but then skin got red so Dr switched me to Protopic (Tacrolimus). The Tac got rid of the redness but the skin hurt. Tacrolimus is an immune system inhibitor. and in oral form is given to those who have received an organ from a donor. People who do not respond well to clobetasol often respond to the Tac. You can only use the tac for a short time and the topical dose does not absorb into the body the same as an oral dose. If doc wants you to try it, I certainly would. Be well.

Sounds pretty serious. I can only advise you to go sit in either a baking soda bath (1/3 cup in a full bath) or put some borax in the bath. It works for many. Or rinse after every bathroom visit with borax water. Cut out added sugar in your diet, no alcohol, no caffeine, no gluten and limited dairy (only a very good plain yoghurt and goat cheese) Wishing you well.

When you say that it worked, do you mean that it cleared it up completely or that it reduced/improved its appearance?

I mean it reduced my symptoms but I didnt get to the maintenance stage so I cant comment on that but its worth a try
